    Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan Background: A directive from the Department for Transport requires that each local authority produces a Local Cycling & Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) aimed at improving the Active Travel modes of cycling and walking for journeys to work, schools, shops, healthcare facilities and public transport hubs such as train stations. Projects in the plan can then be considered for central government funding; however, just because a project is in the plan it doesn’t guarantee that it will funded; but if isn't in, it definitely won’t happen! CCC members have been advising the experienced consultants who drafted the Plan over the last six months on the specific needs of the residents of Chester.
