Parking spots for the 2017-2018 school year are now up for grabs! The required paperwork and information must be submitted for students to paint. There are currently two paint times available. August 14th, 3-7pm August 19th, 3-7pm Each spot can take up to three hours to paint, please do not show up late, the adult leader will not be staying past the posted time. Upon check-in, your, design and paint must be approved by this time. Please bring your paint, all your needed painting supplies, a copy of your approved design, and a broom to sweep off your spot. In order to paint all paperwork must be submitted including payment of $45.00. The cost will include the selected spot and a marker flag that will be visible above the snow during the winter. Payment can be made by cash or check. If paying by check make them out to North Pole High School and turn them into Mrs. Dustin. You must have a valid parking permit. Completed parking permit applications can be submitted with the paperwork or submitted to the front office. A signed copy of the decorated/reserved parking space contract will also need to be turned in. Your design should be clearly drawn to scale on the design contract and must include the colors you will be using on your parking space. This design will be attached to your parking permit file, so please make a copy for yourself as the school will keep the original. Once your design has been reviewed you will be notified by email if it has been approved, denied, or if any changes need to be made. The design may not exceed the parking space outline and must be school appropriate. When painting please use water based exterior latex paint ONLY. Do not use: spray, reflective or fluorescent paint. You will provide your own paint or might consider sharing with others. We ask that you do not use offensive, negative, or rude language, pictures or symbols. No gang-style tagging or double meaning statements. You may use your OWN NAME. If you want to use a nickname, it must be approved. The design needs to stay within the parking space and allow for a 4” border between your design and the parking space line. Prohibited items, or designs not approved, will be painted over at the discretion of Administration. Individuals will be responsible for providing the paint to paint over the design, lose their reserved parking spot, and will not receive a refund. North Pole Branch Library Events for August 2017 Cookbook Book Club will meet on Tuesday, August 15th at 6:30-8:00 pm. Sign up for a tasty journey with cooking! This month the focus is “Summer’s Bounty” (Farmer’s Market). Registration is required as space is limited. Call 488-6101 for more information or to register. Preschool Storytime will meet on Thursday, August 24th at 11:15 am for a fun time of stories, songs, finger plays, and a craft for 3-5 year olds. No registration is required. Parents and Twos Storytime will meet Friday, August 25th at 11:15 am for a cozy story time for two-year-olds and a parent or caregiv- er. Registration is required. Please call the library at 488-6101 to register. Mother Moose will be held Wednesday, August 30th at 11:15 am. A short rhyme, story, and activity time for babies and toddlers (23 months or younger) and a parent or caregiver. No registration is required. Page 2 Welcome to North Pole City Hall Jennifer Sabinash is our new Records Manager/Archivist. She is responsible for the man- agement of the city records, newsletter, social media, and legal documents. Jennifer, her husband Travis, and daughters Savannah and Pudgie moved here just over a year ago from Garmisch, Germany. She has a BS in Child and Family Development, and is a veter- an of the United States Army. While in the United States Army she was a surgical assis- tant. Jennifer and her family look forward to becoming more involved in their community as they embark on this chapter of their lives, and calling North Pole, Alaska their home. New for 2017-2018 Midnight Sun (formerly know as Badg- er Road Elementary), North Pole Ele- mentary, and Ticasuk Brown Elemen- tary will now have full-day kindergar- ten. School will begin for kindergarten- ers on Monday, August 21 from 9:00 am-3:30 pm. For more info, visit www.k12northstar.org Banana Crunch Wraps Ingredients 4 teaspoon peanut butter 2 tablespoons honey 1/2 cup rice crispies 1 banana 2 large whole wheat tortillas Stir together the peanut butter and honey in a bowl until smooth. Mix in the rice crispies. Divide the mixture in half, and spread over each tortilla. Place a banana half in the center of a tortilla, and roll up. Slice the rolls and serve.
