Bendigo Kangan Institute 2019 Annual Report 2019 ANNUAL Annual Report 2019 REPORT Bendigo Kangan Institute Bendigo Kangan Institute Bendigo Kangan Report objectives This Annual Report is the principal medium through which Bendigo Kangan Institute (BKI) communicates its accountability to the Victorian Parliament and stakeholders, and provides a summary of the Institute’s operations, achievements and financial affairs for the 2019 calendar year.     [2015] FWCA 7308 DECISION Fair Work Act 2009 s.185—Enterprise agreement Bendigo Kangan Institute (AG2015/5390) BENDIGO KANGAN INSTITUTE PACCT STAFF ENTERPRISE AGREEMENT, 2015 Educational services VICE PRESIDENT LAWLER SYDNEY, 26 OCTOBER 2015 Application for approval of the Bendigo Kangan Institute PACCT Staff Enterprise Agreement, 2015. [1] An application has been made for approval of an enterprise agreement known as the Bendigo Kangan Institute PACCT Staff Enterprise Agreement, 2015 (Agreement). The application was made pursuant to s.185 of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Act). It has been made by the Bendigo Kangan Institute. The Agreement is a single-enterprise agreement. [2] I am satisfied that each of the requirements of ss.186, 187 and 188 of the Act as are relevant to this application for approval have been met. [3] I note that I raised an issue as to whether the consultation clause of the Agreement met the requirements in s.205. I accepted the joint submission of the parties (ie the employer and the NTEU) that on the proper construction of clause 15 of the Agreement each of the requirements in s.205(1) and (1A) are provided for in the Agreement and they jointly agree that the Agreement should be construed in that way. [4] The National Tertiary Education Industry Union, being a bargaining representative for the Agreement, has given notice under s.183 of the Act that it wants the Agreement to cover it. In accordance with s. 201(2) of the Act I note that the Agreement covers this organisation. [5] The Agreement is approved and, in accordance with s.54 of the Act, will operate from 2 November 2015.

    Free infection control training Training for customer-facing employees to identify and manage the ongoing risk of Coronavirus (COVID-19) infections. On this page: Who is this training for? What does the training cover? Where is this training available? Victorian TAFEs and Registered Training Organisations are offering free short accredited training courses (Skill Sets) to help upskill workers to administer and implement infection control policies and procedures within workplaces. The courses will support businesses to reopen safely and continue to control the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) across Victorian businesses. The course is not mandatory for businesses to reopen; however, employers are encouraged to release their staff for the free training. The courses combine online learning and workplace-based assessment and involve up to 30 contact hours. Employees will acquire the knowledge and skills to help reduce the transmission of COVID-19 to themselves, colleagues, customers and suppliers. In turn, this will help increase consumer confidence that it is safe for the community to re-engage with Victorian businesses.     AEU Victoria TAFE Inquiry - stories submitted to TAFE4ALL The development of skills So I start filling in this form and there's a field that asks, “Are you a: Student, Teacher, etc”. Am I a student? Right now I’m not. Not really. I received a letter yesterday to say Box Hill TAFE is discontinuing their Diploma of Professional Writing and Editing. It says I can transition to another institution, but had I wanted to study at another institution I would have from the start. I wanted to take this course because the course and the staff who take it had such a high reputation; because the course was practical and industry-focused and I am serious about my writing career. If I wanted to take a hobby course, there are plenty out there. Instead I work full time and study part time so I can do something with my talents. This is why I chose to sacrifice my long-service leave to do this course at this institution, and now it’s gone. I never finished my degree ten years ago when I was younger and naive. Now in my thirties, when I finally return to study older, wiser and better prepared, I find my course shut down when I’m only half way through. My classmates, many of whom are fresh out of high school, now find their close-knit, supportive community thrown to the wind. My teachers, all such wonderful, intelligent, compassionate human beings, do not deserve to lose their jobs after putting up with so much disruption and stress over this past year as they've tried to keep the course afloat.
