Lee, Ph.D., D.Sc. BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH Vincent H.L. Lee is Research Professor and former Director (2003-2014), School of Pharmacy, Chinese University of Hong Kong. Prior to that he held senior positions at the US Food and Drug Administration, ALZA (then a Johnson & Johnson company), and the University of Southern California (USC). Professor Lee is a world-renowned leader in ocular drug delivery and peptide and protein drug delivery. Several international honors and awards have recognized Professor Lee’s research accomplishments. They include the PhRMA Award in Excellence in Pharmaceutics (inaugural awardee), Young Investigator Award of the Controlled Release Society, Research Achievement Award in Pharmaceutics and Drug Delivery of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, and Pharmaceutical Scientist of the Year award FIP Board of Pharmaceutical Sciences. In 2002, he was awarded a Citation of Merit by the University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy (only an honorary degree constitutes a higher honor than a citation.) In 2003, he was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Science degree from the University of London, United Kingdom. Professor Lee was elected President of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists in 1996 and of the Controlled Release Society 1993. A member of several editorial advisory boards and scientific advisory boards, Professor Lee was editor-in-chief of Advanced Drug Delivery Review – the flagship journal in drug delivery. The journal reached an impact factor of 13.6 – a 7-fold increase -- during his editorship from 2001-2011. Professor Lee was also an editor-in-chief of Pharmaceutical Research (1985-2008), the flagship pharmaceutical journal.
