This will help us to process your requests quickly and accurately. The Spring Season starts on Jan 1 and ends on Apr 30. A new menu for next season will be sent to you at the beginning of March Please do not book films for 1st May 2020 or after from this menu. 05 HOW TO BOOK YOUR FILMS Send an email to [email protected] as soon as possible, and not later than 1st DECEMBER (for partners, to allow time for production of publicity materials) and 10th DECEMBER (for associates). Please send it as a separate email to this one and NOT by pressing reply If you are an associate, state if it is a GOLD or SILVER booking. If you are a partner, make sure you have booked your dates with Christina first, to ensure she can schedule a presenter for you. State your venue name. List the dates and films you would like for JAN, FEB, MAR, APR. Give at least TWO spare films in case your first choices are not available (We will always consult you on any substitutions that might be necessary). IMPORTANT NOTES Confirmations When you book your films from Moviola, we will send you a Confirmation Form on which the level of charge for each film is clearly set out. You should read this carefully before replying to Toby to state that it is correct. BUT please see the clause about minimum guarantees below. The confirmation is our agreement to supply films for you for the season and we refer back to it in any case of a query on your invoice. It is also your licence to show the film and your proof for anyone who requests it that you have booked the film properly, so be sure to read it and keep it safe. Minimum Guarantees If a film on the mainstream menu gets at least 10+ bookings across the Moviola network, we can generally offer it with no minimum guarantee attached. However, if it turns out that you are the only venue showing a particular film, then you will be subject to the distributor’s minimum of around £100 for film hire. If this were to be the case we would notify you of the change, and you would have the option to pick a different title. Release Dates While we always try to provide the most accurate release dates for titles on the Moviola Menu, these are open to change, often at very short notice. Due to this, we may have to ask you to change a title or reschedule a date. We will always give the maximum notice we can should a change be necessary. Children’s/Family Films Attracting a sufficient audience to make such films viable is extremely difficult. Young people often want tosee films immediately on release and at the lowest possible cost. Furthermore, these films are only available to us to show once they are on sale to the public. On this menu, we have included the film ‘The Lion King’ remake which we think is suitable for a PG audience and has good appeal to families. Help Us Stamp Out Film Piracy All films shown to the public have to pay a licence fee whether or not any ticket price is charged. As a Moviola venue, you operate commercial film shows in exactly the same way as your local multiplex or full- time cinema. You advertise shows and sell tickets, and the film distributors expect a proportion of your sales as film hire. If you find or hear of any venue near you which claims to be operating in a different way - for example advertising free shows or telling you that they get their films cheaper - we would like to know. It is in our interests to ensure that shows are properly licensed. 06 SPRING MENU—1st January—30th April 2020 Welcome to the new season and a new year! We’ve carried over several titles from the last menu, which were released later in the season, including Rocketman and Yesterday which were both extremely popular choices across the Moviola network. We also have Blinded By The Light and Ken Loach’s new filmSorry We Missed You carrying over into this new menu Some big hitters kick us off in January, with the hugely popular film of Downton Abbey, as well as Renee Zellweger’s powerful and Oscar tipped performance as Judy Garland in Judy. Late January also brings Timothy Spall and Vanessa Redgrave back to your screens in Mrs Lowry & Son, a captivating look at the life of one of Britain’s best loved artists, including his often-troubled relationship with his mother. After over a year in cinema limbo, we also have The Current War, a fascinating look at the pioneering age of electricity entrepreneurs. A cracking cast, including Benedict Cumberbatch as Thomas Edison, Michael Shannon as George Westinghouse and Nicholas Hoult as Nicola Tesla, this is sure to be an interesting watch! For fans of documentaries, we have Western Stars, an intimate look at the recording of Bruce Springsteen’s latest album, and The Biggest Little Farm, already up for Oscar consideration, focussing on the building and sustainability of an organic farm in California. Later in the season, Keira Knightley returns with Official Secrets, joining a stellar cast in a ‘whistle-blower’ film set in the run up to the second Iraq war, and Sam Mendes directs the epic 1917, set in the trenches of World War One. While we do not have confirmed dates for either of these yet, they are likely to be available well before the home entertainment release date. If you’re looking for something lighter and more nostalgic, or perhaps even something for a younger audience, we have also included the live action remake of The Lion King. Don’t forget, we are running two more seasons of Cinematheque films until the end of August 2020, and you will find many new and diverse titles to choose from on this menu. Included is the comedy/drama The Farewell, again tipped for Oscar success, in which a Chinese family come together during the ill health of a relative. For fans of classic film, we have included the German masterpiece, Der Golem, soon to be re-released on Blu-Ray from a stunning 4k restoration print. We hope you enjoy choosing your films for this new season, and as always, if you have any queries, please let one of the team know.
