PARTICIPANT INFORMATION BURUNDI Africa Network for Peace, Reconciliation, and Sustainable Development Rev. Déogratias Maruhukiro Fr. Déogratias Maruhukiro was the Director of the Center for Schoenstatt Fathers at Mont Sion Gikungu (Bujumbura, Burundi) from 2006 to 2011, where he initiated the Maria Arafasha Foundation, a foundation that is engaged for the promotion of Peace and Reconciliation. He is a PhD candidate at the University of Freiburg in Germany. Fr. Maruhukiro is the founder of the Africa Network for Peace, Reconciliation, and Sustainable Development (RAPRED-Girubuntu). ([email protected]) CAMEROON Catholic University of Central Africa Prof. Claude-Ernest Kiamba Claude-Ernest Kiamba holds a PhD in political Science from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques of Bordeaux. Former Electoral Adviser to the United Nations Operation in Ivory Coast and former Director of the Cabinet of the Minister of Communication and Relations with the Parliament of Congo-Brazzaville, he is a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Management of the Catholic University of Central Africa, where he assumed responsibilities as director of the master’s program in Governance and Public Action. ([email protected]) CANADA St. Paul University Dr. Jean-François Rioux Jean-François Rioux has been a professor in conflict studies at Saint Paul University in Ottawa since 2002. After his Ph.D. in political science from Carleton University, he worked for the Canadian government and as a consultant in the field of nuclear arms control. After that he was Director of Research at the Raoul-Dandur and Chair of the University of Quebec in Montreal. At Saint Paul University, he has been the director of the School of Conflict Studies, and he now leads the Center for Research on Conflict. ([email protected]) 1 Dr. Moda Dieng Moda Dieng is an assistant professor in the School of Conflict Studies at Saint Paul University. He obtained a PhD in Political Science and an MA in Philosophy at the University of Toulouse. He works primarily on conflict resolution in Africa. ([email protected]) CÔTE D’IVOIRE Catholic University of West Africa / University Unit of Abidjan Rev. Dr. Gaston Ogui Cossi Rev. Dr. Gaston Ogui Cossi is Professor of Christology at the Catholic University of West Africa (CUWA), University Unit of Abidjan. He is a doctor of systematic theology and holder of a master’s degree in Conflict and Peace Management. He is head of the Department of Systematic Theology at CUWA, and is Director of the Doctoral School in the same University Unit. ([email protected]) DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO Catholic University of Bukavu, Higher Institute for Peace and Reconciliation Msgr. Joseph Gwamuhanya Msgr. Gwamuhanya received his PhD from the Pontifical Urban University. He was rector of the Catholic University of Bukavu from 2002-2010, during which time he served as an MP in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s transitional government from 2003-2006. He has served on the leadership board of the Interuniversity Network of the Great Lakes Countries, and since 2011 has been overseeing the development of the Higher Institute for Peace and Reconciliation at the Catholic University of Bukavu. ([email protected] ) Dr. Naupess Kibiswa, Dr. Kibiswa earned his PhD in Conflict Analysis and Resolution at Nova Southeastern University (Florida, USA). He is now a professor in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Catholic Universities in Kinshasa and Bukavu. His research and teaching interests include ethno-nationalism and conflict resolution; exploring tensions between peace and justice, peace and human rights, peace and democracy; balancing the promotion, protection and defense of both civil & political rights and socioeconomic rights as the genuine strategy for the development of Africa. ([email protected]) Rev. Dr. Herve Muyo, O.M.I. Fr. Hervé Muyo, O.M.I. is a professor of Peace Studies at the Catholic University of Bukavu. He has a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from St. Cloud State University (Minnesota, USA) and a PhD in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from Nova Southeastern University (Florida, 2 USA). Also, he is an Associate Professor at the National Pedagogical University and the Catholic University of Congo, both in Kinshasa. ([email protected]) Prof. Paul-Robain Namegabe Paul-Robain Namegabe is a Professor of Public Law and Political Science at the Catholic University of Bukavu (UCB). He got a degree in Law from UCB, a Master’s in Governance and Development from the University of Antwerp, and a PhD in Political Theory from the Luiss- Guido Carli in Rome. He is the Coordinator of Graduate Studies and the Director of the Expertise Center on Mining Governance at UCB. ([email protected]) Mr. Justin Nyorha Justin Rudahindwa Nyorha holds a Master's degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, Media, Peace and Conflict Studies, from the University for Peace in Costa Rica. He is a teacher-researcher at the Catholic University of Bukavu where he teaches general sociology, sociology of conflicts, and education for peace. He is also the academic secretary of the Higher Institute for Peace and Reconciliation. ([email protected]) Catholic University of Congo, Cardinal Martino Panafrican Institute Rev. Dr. Prof. Lievin Engbanda Lingonge Rev. Dr. Prof. Lievin Engbanda Lingonge holds his PhD in Theology from Catholic Theological Union in Chicago, Illinois. He also holds a post-doctoral certificate in Applied Theology from the School of Applied Theology in Berkeley, California. He has been an Associate Professor at Lisala University and a Visiting Professor at Sts. Peter and Paul Seminary in Lisala. He currently is the Academic Dean at the Cardinal Martino Panafrican Institute at the Catholic University of Congo. ([email protected]) ETHIOPIA Ethiopian Catholic Secretariat Abba Hagos Hayish Fessuh, C.M. Abba Hagos Hayish, C.M. holds his MA from Heythrop College in London. He is currently Secretary General of the Ethiopian Catholic Secretariat and is a board member of the Interfaith Council of Ethiopia. He has also been Executive Director of Caritas Ethiopia, Chairman of the Ethiopian Interfaith Forum for Development, Dialogue, and Action, and Vice-Rector, Treasurer, and Prefect of the Pontifical Ethiopian College in Vatican City. ([email protected]) Mr. Guelay Woldegiorghis Guelay Woldegiorghis is the department head of the Justice and Peace Commission of the Ethiopian Catholic Secretariat. Prior to this position he worked as the Assistant Coordinator and as the Capacity Support Program Coordinator of the Social and Development Commission. He 3 holds a postgraduate degree in project planning and management of development projects from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa and diplomas in Mission Studies (Cultural Anthropology), Theology, and Philosophy from Tangaza College. ([email protected]) FRANCE International Federation of Catholic Universities Prof. Luc Pasquier Former executive officer of the Association of Catholic Universities of France (UDESCA), former Vice-Rector at Catholic University of the West (Angers, France) and member of the team of the presidency of the Catholic University of Lille, Luc Pasquier is a socio-anthropologist who specializes in Africa. He is a Senior Advisor with the International Federation of Catholic Universities. ([email protected]) Mr. Paul Nayral de Puybusque A former general, Paul Nayral de Puybusque, is on the faculty at the Catholic University of Lille and specializes in peace and security issues. He has been the head of the Catholic University of Lille’s International Institute of Foresight for Innovative Ecosystems. He is also helping to lead the formation of peacebuilding network through IFCU, with whom he is a senior advisor. ([email protected]) GERMANY Institut für Theologie und Frieden Dr. Heinz-Gerhard Justenhoven Heinz-Gerhard Justenhoven has been director of the Institut für Theologie und Frieden (ITF) in Hamburg, Germany since 1995. Since 2010, he has been chairman of ITF’s Catholic Peace Foundation. He is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Theology at the University of Freiburg. He has also been a Visiting Professor at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago, United States, and at Hekima College in Nairobi, Kenya. ([email protected]) GHANA University of Cape Coast Dr. Kenneth S. Aikins Dr. Kenneth Shelton Aikins is a political scientist and development practitioner. He holds a PhD and MA in Political Science from the University of Kansas (USA), as well as an MPhil in Development Studies from the University of Cape Coast (UCC) in Ghana. At the Institute for 4 Development Studies at UCC, he is a Senior Research Fellow and Coordinator of the Peace and Development Studies program. He has worked with the West Africa Peacebuilding Network, the National Peace Council and the Central Regional Peace Council. ([email protected]) Dr. Patrick Osei-Kufour Patrick Osei-Kufour is a Senior Research Fellow in Development Studies at the Institute for Development Studies, University of Cape Coast Ghana. Currently, he is the convener for the Peace and Development Research Cluster at the Institute. His research works place emphasis on understanding poverty and institutional equity with particular application to decentralized local governance. He has worked with the United Nations Development Program, Ghana, the National Peace Council of Ghana and other faith-based organisations to build the capacity of stakeholders at national, district and local levels on
