Dr. Jean-François Rioux Jean-François Rioux has been a professor in conflict studies at Saint Paul University in Ottawa since 2002. After his Ph.D. in political science from Carleton University, he worked for the Canadian government and as a consultant in the field of nuclear arms control. After that he was Director of Research at the Raoul-Dandur and Chair of the University of Quebec in Montreal. Msgr. Joseph Gwamuhanya Msgr. Gwamuhanya received his PhD from the Pontifical Urban University. He was rector of the Catholic University of Bukavu from 2002-2010, during which time he served as an MP in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s transitional government from 2003-2006. He has served on the leadership board of the Interuniversity Network of the Great Lakes Countries, and since 2011 has been overseeing the development of the Higher Institute for Peace and Reconciliation at the Catholic University of Bukavu. Dr. Naupess Kibiswa, Dr. Kibiswa earned his PhD in Conflict Analysis and Resolution at Nova Southeastern University (Florida, USA). His research and teaching interests include ethno-nationalism and conflict resolution; exploring tensions between peace and justice, peace and human rights, peace and democracy; balancing the promotion, protection and defense of both civil & political rights and socioeconomic rights as the genuine strategy for the development of Africa. Rev. Dr. Herve Muyo, O.M.I. Fr. Hervé Muyo, O.M.I. is a professor of Peace Studies at the Catholic University of Bukavu. Dr. David Hollenbach is Pedro Arrupe Distinguished Research Professor in the Walsh School of Foreign Service and Senior Fellow at the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace and World Affairs at Georgetown University, Washington, DC. Prior, he held the University Chair in Human Rights and International Justice at Boston College. Mr. Stephen Hilbert Steve Hilbert is the Foreign Policy Advisor for Africa and Global Development Issues for the Office of International Justice and Peace at the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. 12 Dr. George A. Lopez George A. Lopez is the Rev. Theodore M. Hesburgh, C.S.C., Chair Emeritus in Peace Studies at the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies, the University of Notre Dame (USA). He came to the University in 1986 as a founding faculty member of the Kroc Institute. Lopez created and has served as Director of the Kroc Institute’s annual Summer Institute on Teaching Peace in the 21st Century since its inception in 2009. This program has assisted the development of peace research and studies programs in over 90 higher education institutions across five continents. Dr. Caesar A. Montevecchio Caesar A. Montevecchio holds a PhD in systematic theology from Duquesne University. He is currently a Research Associate with the Catholic Peacebuilding Network’s secretariat housed at the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies in the Keough School of Global Affairs, the University of Notre Dame (USA). Prof. Gerard F. Powers Gerard Powers is director of Catholic Peacebuilding Studies at the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies in the Keough School of Global Affairs, the University of Notre Dame (USA). He is also Coordinator of the Catholic Peacebuilding Network. He is formerly Director of the Office of International Justice and Peace of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, and was also a foreign policy advisor in the same office. Dr. William Headley, C.S.Sp. William R. Headley, C.S.Sp., PhD is a sociologist, counselor and Catholic priest member of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit. He has a broad background in justice, peace and international aid with experience in nearly 80 countries. Fr. Headley is presently a Professor of Interreligious Peace Studies, Kroc School of Peace Studies, University of San Diego. Mr. Simson Mwale

13 Simson Mwale is the Director of the Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies of the Zambia Catholic University in Kalulushi, Zambia. He previously worked at the Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar Secretariat in Accra, Ghana; and the Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflection in Lusaka, Zambia. Rev. Dr. Obino Mulenga Rev. Dr. Obino Mulenga is Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the Zambia Catholic University and has a Vatican portfolio as Ecclesiastical Assistant (chaplain of Mijarc World, an international Catholic and agriculture Youth Movement). He served as Registrar and Senior Lecturer for the Zambia Catholic University prior to being appointed to the current position. His holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology. ([email protected])

Mr. Philip N. Phiri Philip Phiri has a licentiate in Theology from the Gregorian University in Rome, and acquired a postgraduate Master’s degree in Communication for Development from the . Mr. Phiri has worked in various positions in the Church and in civil society organizations, which include lecturing theology at St. Dominic’s Major Seminary and working as Director of Caritas in the North-Western Region (Solwezi Diocese) in Zambia.
