In reality, Ahigher education has a history of 2,350 years in the continent. In the last two decades, enrollment dramatically increased by 170% between 1999 and 2002; numerically rising from 3.53 million to 9.54 million in 2012. These dramatic increases in enrollment in higher education was not matched with the human and infrastructural capacities in many African universities. Between 1992 and 2003, the Rockefeller Foundation noticed this gap in sub-Saharan Africa and supported a regional initiative “Forum on the higher education, science, technology and innovation Agriculture Resource Husbandry-FORUM” involving 10 ecosystem.
