DRAFT.

AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE LAND (SETTLEMENT OF TITLE) ORDINANCE. BE IT ENACTED by the High Commissioner for Palestine, with the advice of the Advisory Council thereof: — 1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Land (Settlement of Title) Short title. (Amendment) Ordinance, 1944, and shall be read as one with the Land (Settlement of Title) Ordinance, hereinafter referred to as "the Cap. 80. principal Ordinance". 2. Subsection (1) of section 69 of the principal Ordinance shall be Amendment or amended by the addition of the following words at the end thereof: — section 69 of the principal Ordinance. , and also in regard to any other matter necessary to give effect to the provisions of this Ordinance."

OBJECTS AND REASONS. Subsection (I) of section 69 of the Land (Settlement of Title) Ordinance (Cap. 80), the principal Ordinance, contains provisions empowering the High Commissioner to prescribe, by order, a scale of fees and other payments to be made — (a) on the hearing of actions before a settlement officer, and (&) on the registration in the registers of rights to land which are recorded in a Schedule of rights and a Schedule of partition. In order to allow of inclusion, in an order made under section 69, of provision for the imposition of fees for services other than on the hearing of actions and on registration of rights to land amendment of section 69(1) is necessary.
