L’annexe contient le texte intégral des Déclarations rétrospectives de valeur universelle exceptionnelle dans la langue dans laquelle elles ont été soumises au Secrétariat. Projet de décision : 40 COM 8E, voir Point II. Ce document annule et remplace le précédent I. HISTORIQUE 1. La Déclaration de valeur universelle exceptionnelle est un élément essentiel, requis pour l’inscription d’un bien sur la Liste du patrimoine mondial, qui a été introduit dans les Orientations devant guider la mise en oeuvre de la Convention du patrimoine mondial en 2005. Tous les biens inscrits depuis 2007 présentent une telle Déclaration. 2. En 2007, le Comité du patrimoine mondial, dans sa décision 31 COM 11D.1, a demandé que les Déclarations de valeur universelle exceptionnelle soient rétrospectivement élaborées et approuvées pour tous les biens du patrimoine mondial inscrits entre 1978 et 2006. -

Uppsala Studies in Cultural Anthropology 47. 221 pp. Uppsala. ISBN 978-91-554-7656-4. This study deals with the implications of implementing the World Heritage site of Laponia in northern Sweden. Laponia, consisting of previously well-known national parks such as Stora Sjöfallet and Sarek, obtained its World Heritage status in 1996. Both the biological and geological significance of the area and the local Sami reindeer herding culture are in- cluded in the justification for World Heritage status. This thesis explores how Laponia became an arena for the long-standing Sami ethno-political struggle for increased self- governance and autonomy. In many other parts of the world, various joint management schemes between indigenous groups and national environmental protection agencies are more and more common, but in Sweden no such agreements between the Swedish Envi- ronmental Protection Agency and the Sami community have been tested. The local Sami demanded to have a significant influence, not to say control, over the future management of Laponia. These were demands that were not initially acknowledged by the local and national authorities, and the negotiations about the management of Laponia continued over a period of ten years. -

John Ericsson and the transformation of the Swedish naval doctrine Jan Glete Originally a lecture for "Symposium on John Ericsson and the Revolution in naval warfare 1850-1880, Swedish National Defence College Stockholm, 14 Nov 2003. Re-written as an article, "John Ericsson and the transformation of the Swedish naval doctrine", International Journal of Naval History, 2, no. 3, December 2003 (web-publication) During the nineteenth century the Swedish navy faced both the challenge of a fundamentally new strategic situation and that of the technological revolution in naval warfare. The end result was in fact a rather happy one as new technology offered interesting opportunities for a minor navy, which had to concentrate on defence against seaborne invasion. The transformation process was however long and difficult as the formulation of a new doctrine was hampered both by strong traditions and a profound uncertainty about the potential and direction of technological development.1 This article discusses the role of the Swedish-American inventor and consulting engineer John Ericsson (1803-1889) in the transformation of the strategic and tactical doctrines of the Swedish navy. He was an important person in that process. Ericsson did not offer any lasting solution to the problems that the navy faced but, during a period when Swedish naval policy- makers were at a loss about what to do with the technological revolution, he offered solutions which proved essential as stopgap measures. Aland, Where I Met Tove Stockholm
1987 Aland, where I met Tove Örebro, Stockholm, Aland and the Archipelago by Johan Kjellander 2014 1987 was the year when I was going to meet Tove. I sailed deep into the Åland Archipelago to visit a meeting for Guyline boats and on my way back I stopped to visit relatives in their summer house. Tove happened to be there and she followed me back over the Sea of Åland where we had an exiting experience with the Cruising ship Birka Princess. One year later we were married. Stockholm This year I started from Örebro first week in July and took the usual route through Hjälmaren, the Canal and Mälaren to Stockholm. In Stockholm I met Saga from Örebro with Sven-Gunnar and Annika. We agreed to try to find a mooring on Skeppsholmen together. We had to search for some time, there is no marina here, but finally we found an empty spot close to the bridge that connects Skeppsholmen with the mainland. With our anchors in the stern and lines to land we managed to stay here four days without anybody asking us to leave or pay. Skeppsholmen, Photo by Jan Ainali, © CC BY-SA 3.0 A long time ago Skeppsholmen was farmland but in 1634 it was decided to establish Skeppsholmen as Stockholms naval base and shipyard and so it was for a very long time, the last military left 1968. Today Skeppsholmen is a cultural centre with institutions like the museum of Modern Art, The East Asia Museum, The Royal Academy of Art, the Modern Dance Theatre, the House of Photography, the annual Stockholm Jazz Festival and so on.
