Travel south Dorking. Follow this road and merge into the right hand lane. At the traffic lights along the A24. As you approach Dorking you will see Dorking railway station on turn right onto the A25. Continue along this road into West Street, turn left into your left. At the next roundabout turn right signposted Dorking town centre the public car park, continue through the car park and then turn right into (A25) onto the Reigate Road. Continue driving through the High Street. At the Church Street which leads into North Street. Dorking station can be reached end of the High Street the road forks, continue left into South Street. Just after directly from London Victoria or Waterloo stations: walk directly ahead out of Waitrose on your right take a right turn into Junction Road at the end of this road car park. When you reach the main road (A24/Deepdene Avenue), turn left and turn right into West Street. Turn left into the public car park on West Street, continue walking down this road (under 5 minutes) until you see a petrol station continue through the car park and then turn right into Church Street which leads on the opposite side of the road. Cross the main road here and right into into North Street. (opposite the car park). London Road. London Road eventually bears left and you will reach Dorking High Street. The directions are exactly the same as from Dorking station (above), except you will exit opposite the petrol station on the main road (A24 - Deepdene Avenue)..

    Response to the Mole Valley Local Plan to 2033 from Mole Valley and Epsom and Ewell Green Party We are grateful for the opportunity to respond to the future plans for Mole Valley. We welcome the proposed approach to planning for development by prioritising brownfield sites, but question the need to de-designate swathes of the Green Belt in Mole Valley. This is both damaging and unpopular. The whole plan should be framed by the Climate Emergency the Council has signed up to – concreting over Green Belt land is not the way forward. We do not accept the Government’s imposed housing targets and urge Mole Valley District Council to challenge that unsustainable imposition, alongside other local authorities. Mole Valley is ideally placed to make a significant contribution to carbon sequestration and climate mitigation through forestry, agricultural and industrial processes, as well as to developing renewable energy sources, sustainable local produce markets and low-carbon transport, educational, social and cultural services in a circular economy. These considerations need to take centre stage, alongside the need for affordable housing that really does meet local needs. Policy S1 ● This policy needs to reflect the NPPF position clearly: that sustainable development is a balance of social, environmental and economic interests. Sustainable development is often misrepresented. The policy has a presumption in favour of sustainable development as set out in the National Planning Policy Framework. This policy, which balances social, environmental and economic interests, should be properly explained in the plan. It is not a presumption in favour of development per se. The Plan states ‘where there is no policy, approval will be granted’, this is too open and leaves the district vulnerable to new, unplanned or unconsidered types of development in the future.

River, high hills, views, vineyards, country town In Brief The famous beauty spot of Box Hill looms over the country town of Dorking but ramblers arriving by train aiming for a stimulating climb usually stop one station short in Westhumble (as you can for this walk). However, what is little known is that there is a very attractive route starting in either of the two railway stations, going up the southern flank. In fact this route seems to be the most comfortable way. This is a circular walk which also takes you down the famous “Whites”, through the villages of Westhumble and across the Denbies vineyards. This walk is just as good if you come by car (or bus) . There are several free car parks along the route and, although the walk goes past the railway stations, it quickly leads you back into magnificent open country. For refreshments, there's a wide choice of cafés and pubs, both on the top and in the village of Westhumble. The first part of this walk can be used as the start of a 16-mile Dorking- Guildford station-to-station walk along the North Downs Way using the Guildford-Church-On-The-Hill walk at the western end.
