Pacific Coast Road Racing Championships® Auto Pacific Coast Road Racing Championships® Auto Club Speedway – November 14-15, 2020 Welcome to the 2020 edition of the Pacific Coast Road Racing Championships® hosted by the Cal Club Region at Auto Club Speedway. With the 2020 SCCA Runoffs complete, it’s time to really find out who is the fastest on the West Coast. Also adding to the excitement this year is the fact that this facility (Auto Club) as it currently stands, will no longer be hosting Road Racing events in the soon to be future … thus entrants will be getting one of the final opportunities to race on this iconic Southern California track. As the Race Chairman, I’d like to offer up some information that may make your visit to Auto a bit easier. If there are any questions, concerns, suggestions - before, during, or after, please let me know. Again, I am here to make your weekend the best it can be. Auto Club resides in San Bernardino County. San Bernardino has some specific requirements allowing “events” at Auto Club. NASCAR (Auto Club’s Owners) has given us the opportunity to hold this event at their facility, as long as we meet or exceed the requirements mandated by the County. Attached is the formal plan that NASCAR had to approve (along with the Country) to enable us to put on this event. Please read the document and adhere to the mandates. All it takes is one missed stepped item and the event will be shut down and everyone loses the opportunity to participate in one of the final SCCA sanctioned opportunities to participate at the soon-to-be “historic” facility. Please read the entire COVID PLAN document at the end of this Info Package: Below are some highlights of the County/NASCAR mandates – → Entry to the event shall be limited to registered entrant/driver plus three (3) crew members. → One car per garage door for those that secured a garage → Temperatures will be taken at Registration – and everyone must sign in through Registration → Everyone must have a wrist band – that indicates your temperature has been checked → Masks when the 6ft “social distance” is difficult → Race Control and Timing and Scoring are no-go places Page 1 Mark Smith – Cal Club Race Chairman ([email protected]) 562-208-9660 [email protected] www.calclub.com Ceci/Office: 661-304-9382 Pacific Coast Road Racing Championships® Auto Club Speedway – November 14-15, 2020 I have included some details that hopefully will make your experience a bit more informed and welcoming as you attend the event. ⇒ ENTRY TO THE TRACK: Enter at the main gate on Cherry Ave, (Gate 1). You will be able to enter the paddock area after 3:00 pm on Friday November 13th, 2020. If you arrive before 3:00 pm you will be put in a staging parking lot within the track’s main gate. Gates will remain open 24 hours a day after that time. ⇒ PADDOCK AND GARAGES: There is plenty of paddock space for everyone! Most all spaces have free RV (power/water) hookups. If you have rented a Garage, Ceci should have forwarded you the Garage space number. If you did not rent a garage, please DO NOT Paddock in the garage area, those spaces are reserved for garage renters and Race Officials. You will be asked to move if you park in this area and do not have a garage, this will be strictly enforced. In the back straight paddock area, please try to park perpendicular to the fence so everyone will have enough room to park! ⇒ PARKING - Remember, if you have a garage, you have a single “in front of the garage” parking spot. We didn’t design it that way, but we have to work with it. Please have your crew vehicles, etc. - park along the fence or in the parking lot as you approach the fenced in garage paddock area. Parking in the “back stretch lot” as well as other areas throughout the paddock are open. All that is asked is that you respect your neighbors and with a large expected entry, minimize your footprint so all have adequate space to paddock. ⇒ REGISTRATION: Registration is located by the center garage building (Garage Bay #2), outside under an EZ-Up by the Driver’s lounge. Please wear a MASK when interacting with the Registrations Team. Friday: 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm . Saturday: 6:30 am to 11:00 am . Sunday: 7:00 am to 9:00 am → Please check your competition licenses and make sure it is current. NOTE - your membership can be current but your competition license expired. You can pay for membership on line but that does not renew your competition license - that has to be done by mail or over the phone. Everyone who is to be in a HOT area will need to come to Registration to get an armband. Mark Smith – Cal Club Race Chairman ([email protected]) 562-208-9660 Page 2 [email protected] www.calclub.com Ceci/Office: 661-304-9382 Pacific Coast Road Racing Championships® Auto Club Speedway – November 14-15, 2020 ⇒ POWER for Motorhomes/Trailers/Blenders/Jacuzzi Pools, etc. is available throughout the facility (free of charge!), especially in the back straight paddock area. I believe it is a 30/50 Amp hookup. ⇒ TECH will be in it’s usual spot, right next to the Gas Pumps. Please wear a MASK when interacting with the Tech Team. The Tech Team will be ready at 3:00 on FRIDAY. Good opportunity for those needing Annual Techs Thursday afternoon. Plan ahead, they will close by 6:00 on Thursday. For the rest of the weekend, Lonny Sheek and his Tech Crew plan to be available from 7:00 am on Saturday, and Sunday morning. ⇒ IMPOUND – We will have mandatory Impound after each Qualifying and Race Session. Impound will be in the Tech area, and regardless of “how many laps” of the Session you completed, all are required to stop in the Tech/Impound area until released by the Stewards. ⇒ DRIVERS MEETING: The Driver’s Meeting for this event will be accomplished via the Track’s PA System. The Chief Steward will read the Chief Steward’s Driver’s Meeting Letter multiple time Saturday morning (found on Page 6 of this package). Also be familiar with the Event Supplemental Regulations. Copies of the Supplemental Regulations can be found in this document (following Page 16) as well as copies available at Registration or can be downloaded from here: https://calclub.com/sup-regulations/ ⇒ TIRE SERVICE: Shelby Goodyear will be at the Speedway to service your tire needs! If you need to order tires and have them delivered to the track, Buttonwillow Raceway Tire Shop is available for orders and delivery. The contacts you may need: Buttonwillow Tire Shop: Mike 661-764-5333 and Jim at Goodyear 702-439-4977. ⇒ GRID area is the area between the Pit Road Suites and the hot pit wall. You enter the Grid area via the vehicle entrance (open fence gate leading to the Front Straight) near the end of the middle Garage (#2). There should be some maps available at Registration so be sure to pick one up (or review the one’s attached here). ⇒ TIMING AND SCORING: Timing and Scoring is in the Pit Road Suites (up the stairs) above where you drive under the Suites to get to GRID at the end of Garage #2. All timing results (qualifying and race results) will be available from Gail at the Question Box located near the end of Garage 2 in the Garage Paddock area. Timing and Scoring Chief Dennis asks that everyone please double and triple check that your name, car #, type of car, class, Region of Record and sponsor are all correct on the sheets and if they are not to let them know right away so it can be corrected! Mark Smith – Cal Club Race Chairman ([email protected]) 562-208-9660 Page 3 [email protected] www.calclub.com Ceci/Office: 661-304-9382 Pacific Coast Road Racing Championships® Auto Club Speedway – November 14-15, 2020 ⇒ FUEL STATION: Fuel station is located in the Impound/Tech area. Dear SCCA Media Partners, Welcome to what is truly a new era of the Sports Car Club of America, as the SCCA National Champi- onship Runoffs heads west for the first time in 46 years to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. This event, made possible with the help of our friends and partners at Mazda and the Sports Car Rac- ing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP), was met with questions at its announcement that have been answered in a big way, with more than 530 drivers on the entry list and a rejunvenaton of the west coast program all season long. While we haven’t been west of the Rockies since River- side International Raceway in 1968, it’s hard to believe it will be that long before we return again. The question on everyone’s mind, even more than usual, is who is going to win? Are there hidden gems on the west coast who may be making their first Runoffs appearance that will make a name for themselves on the national stage, or will the traditional contenders learn a new track quickly enough to hold their titles? My guess is that we’ll see some of each.

(June 28, 2015) – NTT DATA Chip Ganassi Racing driver Tony Kanaan finished second at the MAVTV 500 at Auto Club Speedway in Round 11 of the 2015 Verizon IndyCar Series season. Kanaan and the No. 10 NTT DATA Chevrolet started the 500-mile race in the sixth position. Over the first 20 laps, Kanaan made his way up to second and a few laps later the No. 10 would finally take the lead. Over the next 15 laps, Kanaan battled for the lead with multiple cars, including teammate Sage Karam. NTT DATA Chip Ganassi Racing called the No. 10 in for the first pit stop of the day on Lap 35 of 250 for fuel and tires and by Lap 55 Kanaan had fallen back to ninth. Kanaan pitted for the second time for fuel and tires on Lap 71 and on Lap 100 the No. 10 was running in the fourth position. Just one lap later, Kanaan was back in the lead until pitting for the third stop of the day on Lap 106.
