Zoology Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China Thesis Title: "Characteristic Analysis of Behaviors Related to Reproduction of the Rose Bitterling (Rhodeus Ocellatus)" 2005 ~ 2009 B.S. Aquaculture Department of Animal Sciences at Yangtze University Jingzhou City, Hubei Province, China Teaching Experience Teaching Assistants in the following courses: independently teaching laboratories, grading homework and exams, holding office hours for answering students’ questions Bio2106 Genetics Laboratory 2014 Spring, Summer and Fall at Baylor University Bio2106 Genetics Laboratory 2013 Spring, Summer, and Fall at Baylor University Bio1402 Introductory Microbiology 2013 Spring at Baylor University Bio2106 Genetics Laboratory 2012 Fall at Baylor University Research Experience 2015.07 ~ present School of Genome Sci & Tech, University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN37996 Development of a search module which integrates the Hardwood Genomics Databases (HGD) with elastic search 2013 ~ 2015.05 Department of Biology, Baylor University A test of postzygotic isolation and Haldane’s rule in Lake Malawi cichlids By comparing fitnessrelated traits and sex ratio between hybrids and pure bred individuals I test for evidence of postzygotic isolation and Haldane’s rule Designing and conducting experiments, and writing proposal Genomic mapping of female mate choice in a pair of cichlids fishes in Lake Malawi, East Africa Writing and using R, Perl and python scripts for SNPs calling and QTL analysis 2012 ~ 2014 Department of Biology, Baylor University The effects of Prostaglandin F2α on female mate choice in a pair of Lake Malawi cichlid fishes, East Africa Maintaining and identifying females for being tested Quantitative genetic analyses of male color pattern and female mate choice in a pair of cichlid fishes in Lake Malawi, East Africa Writing main R scripts for data analysis 2009 ~ 2012 Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences In the following projects, I participated in sample collection, experimental conduction, data analysis Global climate change will severely decrease potential distribution of the East Asian cold water fish Rhynchocypris oxycephalus (Actinopterygii, Cyprinidae) Geological events and Pliocene climate fluctuations explain the phylogeographical pattern of the cold water fish Rhynchocypris oxycephalus (Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae) in China In the following projects, I participated in experimental designs, conducted experiments, analyzed data, and wrote manuscripts The influence of mating opportunities on the reproductive behaviors of male rose bitterling (Rhodeus ocellatus) Main result: males behaved variously in intensity and number of types of behaviors in group of different sex ratios Groupjoining preference made by Rhodeus ocellatus when joining different groups with different numbers of individuals (Rhodeus ocellatus) Main result: both male and female R.ocellatus showed significant preferences for large group of larger, samesex conspecifics. The influence of breeding resource on the reproductive behaviors of male rose bitterling (Rhodeus ocellatus) Main result: territorial males directed more aggression towards other males in the presence of mussel The factors contributing the spatial distribution of the rose bitterling (Rhodeus ocellatus) Main result: The spartial distribution of R.ocellatus depends on the habitat structure and food availability Publications Ding, B.
