1. Regolamento Karate 13° CAMPIONATO NAZIONALE DI KARATE / 1° CAMPIONATO NAZIONALE DI KOBUDO Lignano Sabbiadoro (UD), 30 aprile / 1 maggio 2015 1. REGOLAMENTO KARATE 1.1 SPECIALITÀ - ETÀ - CATEGORIE Ciascun atleta può gareggiare al massimo in due specialità individuali, una a squadre/coppie standard ed una a squadre/coppie elaborato o free style. Gli atleti che gareggiano nel Kihon Ippon Kumite non possono gareggiare nel Jiyu Ippon Kumite e viceversa. Gli atleti che gareggiano nel Kata a Squadra Standard non possono gareggiare anche nel Kata a Coppia Standard e viceversa Per il Jiyu kumite ciascun atleta può gareggiare al massimo in due categorie: Jiyu kumite open+ Jiyu kumite cat. di Peso, oppure Jiyu Kumite Open+ Jiyu Kumite a squadre, oppure Jiyu kumite cat. di peso + Jiyu kumite a squadre. Le mezze cinture verranno inserite nella categoria inferiore Specialità ed età Cat. Categorie ed età: 1) cat. maschile dal 1996 e precedenti M A) tutte le cinture (Open) (Juniores/Seniores/Masters/Silvers) E’ possibile inserire nella squadra un solo atleta che non rientra per età nella categoria stabilita, purchè con anno di nascita compreso tra il 1997 e il 1999 e grado cintura marrone o nera. KATA A COPPIA INTEGRATO Ciascuna coppia è composta da due atleti, sia maschi che femmine, di qualsiasi età e grado nell’ambito di quanto stabilito nella specialità un atleta con disabilità e un atleta normodotato Categorie ed età: 1) cat. unica A) cintura tutte KATA A SQUADRE RIELABORATO La coppia/squadra può essere composta da un minimo di due ad un massimo di cinque atleti, sia maschi che femmine, di qualsiasi età e grado compresi tra il minimo ed il massimo di quelli stabiliti nelle classi di gara della specialità a squadre. Categorie ed età: 1) cat. unica A) cintura tutte KATA COMPOSIZIONE LIBERA (FREE STYLE) Squadre/coppie La coppia/squadra può essere composta da un minimo di due ad un massimo di cinque atleti, sia maschi che femmine, di qualsiasi età e grado compresi tra il minimo ed il massimo di quelli stabiliti nelle classi di gara della specialità a squadre. Categorie ed età: 1) cat. unica A) cintura tutte 1.2 DISPOSIZIONI REGOLAMENTARI Contatto Per qualsiasi tipo di competizione di Kumite si intende: - “Assolutamente vietato” = squalifica (eccetto se il contatto è stato provocato dall’avversario) - “Vietato” = nessuna assegnazione di punteggio - “Ammesso ....” = assegnazione di punteggio se il contatto è leggero, controllato e pienamente gestito. Per il Jiyu Kumite categorie di peso vedi regolamento arbitrale nazionale CSI. Tipologia di eliminatorie utilizzate per le prove di gara “a punti” = tutti gli atleti (o squadre o coppie) eseguono singolarmente il kata a cui viene attribuito un punteggio. “ad eliminatoria diretta” = due atleti (o squadre o coppie) per volta, il perdente viene eliminato fino a quando rimangono quattro finalisti. “eliminatoria all’italiana” = ciascun atleta (o squadra o coppia) si incontra con tutti gli altri della categoria, al vincitore vengono assegnati 2 punti, al perdente 0 punti, in caso di parità 1 punto a ciascuno. Specialità a squadra a incontro individuale: Ordine di Entrata dei componenti Per le specialità a squadra/coppia a incontro individuale (ad esempio Jiyu Ippon Kumite, Jiyu Kumite), all’inizio della competizione (dopo il saluto) i Direttori Tecnici - o i capitani o gli accompagnatori - delle squadre/coppie, dovranno consegnare al tavolo centrale la lista dei nomi dei componenti delle squadre/coppie con l’ordine di entrata per tutti gli incontri della gara (per il primo incontro, per il secondo, ecc.), nonché stabilire l’/gli atleta/i per incontri ulteriori in caso di spareggi. In mancanza della consegna di tale lista, come ordine di entrata sarà utilizzato l’ordine di elencazione dei nominativi del modulo di iscrizione alla gara e, per eventuali spareggi, il primo di tali nominativi. Specialità a squadra a incontro individuale: punteggio assegnato Per le specialità a squadra/coppia a incontro individuale (due squadre/coppie per turno, ciascuno dei componenti di una squadra/coppia si incontra con un componente dell’altra squadra/coppia), al vincitore dell’incontro si assegnano 2 punti, al perdente 0 punti, in caso di parità 1 punto a ciascuno. La somma dei punteggi di tutti gli incontri determina la squadra/coppia vincitrice. Spareggi Kata Individuale – Kata a Squadra – Kata a Coppia – Kata a Coppie integrato - Gli spareggi saranno effettuati nei seguenti modi: - spareggio tra due per la stessa posizione in classifica: ciascuno eseguirà la prova LIBERA, al termine gli arbitri esprimeranno il proprio giudizio alzando la bandierina rossa o bianca/blu. - spareggio tra tre o più per la stessa posizione in classifica: a punteggio. Iscrizione alla gara – Note Jiyu Kumite Categorie di Peso. Il peso degli atleti da indicare deve essere il peso effettivo dell’atleta e non quello riferito alle categorie di gara (es. peso atleta 47,5 Kg. categorie gara . –50 e + 50, indicare 47,5 e non –50 o 50 o +50). Squadre e Coppie. Deve essere comprensibile di quale squadra/coppia l’atleta fa parte e quindi deve essere indicato per ciascun componente il nome della squadra/coppia di cui fa parte (es. Kata a Squadra squadra A, componenti Qui, Quo, Qua = nel modulo di iscrizione, per ciascuno di questi atleti, nell’apposito spazio inserire “A”).

A judging panel of specifically trained Kobudo Judges will be appointed by the KBC Officials Committee. 2. Competitors will perform Kata chosen from the list of recognized Kobudo Kata as referenced in Article 8. 3. Preferably, the panel of Judges will include those representing the different Kobudo Ryuha 4. The Judging Panel will consist of one Head Judge and either four or two corner judges (depending on availability). ARTICLE 4: ORGANIZATION OF THE COMPETITION AND DIVISIONS 1. Kobudo competitors shall compete in the age and skill divisions as described below for Regular Weapons (Bo, Eku, Sai, Tonfa): 9 & Under Novice / Intermediate / Advanced 10-13 Novice / Intermediate / Advanced 14-17 Novice / Intermediate 14-17 Advanced 18 & Over Novice / Intermediate 18 & Over Advanced 17 & Under Black 18 & Over Black.

Sensei Dometrich has devoted her life to studying and teaching the ancient okinawan weapons comprised of: Bo; Tekko; Nunchaku; Sai; Tonfa; Tinbe; Eku; and Kama. Sensei has developed a large community of senior teachers in three countries and spends a tremendous amount of time each year driving across North America and promoting her art.     International Ryukyu Kobudo Federation N A T I O E R N T A N L I RYUKYU F E KOBUDO N D O E R A T I Ryukyu Kobudo is the practice of martial arts weapons that developed in the Ryukyu Islands. The Ryukyu Islands are a chain of islands extending southwest from the southern end of Kyushu Island in Japan. Notable islands include Okinawa and Hama Higa Islands. The kata names originate from the Kyushu island or village where they s nd developed, or from the master that is sla u I ky credited with the kata. yu R Okinawa Short History Okinawa is the largest island in the Ryukyu Island chain. Both Japanese and Chinese settlers have been there since around 300 BC. By 1340 AD. three kingdoms exist in the Ryukyu Islands, Hokuzan, Chuzan, and Nazan. These three kingdoms are at war with each other for dominance of the island chain. It is at this time that trade begins with China. In 1393 AD. China sends a large group of people to Okinawa as part of the cultural exchange. Included in this group are monks from the Shaolin Temple. This begins the combination of Shaolin Kung Fu with Okinawan Te. In 1429 AD. The Ryukyu Islands are united under one king. The kingdom prospers due to the trade with all of Asia. In 1447 AD. King Sho Shin bans all weapons from civilians to keep the peace. This is the first “Weaponless Period”. In 1609 AD. the Satsuma clan invades the Ryukyu Islands and captures the King.

    Welcome Karatekas and Parents We now enter the last quarter of our karate year and things are going to get busy. Grading is around the corner as well as our very first club tournament. Please make a note of all the upcoming events as they are all very important. Grading Preparations Please take note that at least 14 classes need to be attended in order to qualify for grading. The finger print system is there for the purpose of clocking in Spring Day 2016 when karateka pitch up for training, just before grading takes place, the records are downloaded from the system in order to Spirits were high this year as our Karatekas came to class dressed in tally up the amount of classes attended, thus we can see who all colours. This handbook contains very important information regarding the guidelines and procedures of our school to better inform you of expectations and procedures regarding training. The quality of instruction and the training at our dojo are of the highest reputation and are designed to bring the best out of our students. We teach a code of personal and work ethics that produce citizens of strong physical ability but most importantly of high character. Students are expected to train with the utmost seriousness and always give their maximum physical effort when executing techniques in class. Instructors are always observing and evaluating our students based on their physical improvements but most of all, their development of respect, courtesy and discipline. Practicing karate is very similar to taking music lessons- there are no short cuts. As in music, there are people that possess natural ability and others that have to work harder to reach goals. There are no guarantees in music instruction that say someone will become a professional musician as in karate there are no guarantees that a student will achieve a certain belt. This will fall only on the student and whether they dedicate themselves to the instruction given to them. Our school does not offer quick paths to belts for a price as many commercial schools do.

    Dear Sensei and Karateka: It is an honor to be hosting our annual Spring National Training Camp here in Williamsburg, Virginia. The format of this camp will follow our previous gasshuku and cover topics of kihon, Shorin-Ryu kata, kobudo, kumite (iri-kumi and sport kumite) and application. This is an outstanding opportunity for students of all styles of Okinawa Karate to train together and we hope this experience will create new friendships. The purpose of a gasshuku is to evaluate and strengthen the skills and curriculum areas of all members and to also create opportunities for karateka to grow. As there are no “spectators” or seniors standing on the sidelines in the dojo on Okinawa, we will hope that every participant will represent themselves, their style and their teacher by training on the floor. It is all too common for individuals to attend camps just to have picture opportunities with famous karate sensei but do very little training. I hope that everyone will push themselves and each other to complete the training with tremendous spirit and effort. We look forward to training with you and sharing knowledge at this special event!     Trade, War, Privilege and the path to Matayoshi Kobudo Robert Johnson The problem with writing a paper on Matayoshi Kobudo is that so little is actually known and so much of that has already been written. One need only to pick up the works of Bishop, Clarke, Kim, Loshe, Masahiro, McCarthy, Sells and Tetsuhiro to find a reasonably consistent, but factually sparse, history of Matayoshi Shinko Sensei and his son Matayoshi Shinpo Sensei. This is truly a shame, as the elder Matayoshi in particular seems to have cut the dashing figure of an adventurer during the latter 19th and early 20th century, while the younger Matayoshi spent a lifetime preserving and promoting an art form that might likely have vanished but for his efforts. While the purpose of this paper is to look back into the history of Okinawa and decipher what it was about the island and its people that led up to Matayoshi Kobudo Kodokan, I would be remiss if I did not discuss the family history, albeit briefly. Born in Kakinoara, Naha in 1888, Matayoshi Shinko, the third son of the relatively wealthy businessman, Matayoshi Shinchin, whose family was involved in the lucrative sugar growing and processing trade, started the martial arts at a young age.1 During his teenage years he trained in Bo, Sai, Kama and Eku with Agena Chokuho, one of the greatest martial arts masters of the time. 2 He also studied Nunchaku and Tunkwa with two of Agena’s students, Ire Matsutaro and Ire Jitude.3 Leaving home at the age of 22, Matayoshi Shinko traveled “northward through Japan to Hokkaido, then across the strait to Russian Sakhalin and finally into Manchuria, where he wound up living with a group variously reported as Mongolian nomads or Manchurian bandits.”4 Apparently bitten by the adventure bug, Shinko Sensei would travel twice more to China in the 1920’s and 1930’s to study the martial arts and traditional Chinese medicine.
