In response to demographic ageing there has been, over the past 20 years, a paradigm shift in employment policies towards promoting increased labour force participation by older workers, women, low-skilled workers and migrants. Public policy in regard to older workers has moved from an emphasis on early retirement as an instrument of labour force adjustment, towards the promotion of higher rates of labour force participation and longer working lives for older workers.     Charted → Overview of Choices budgetary choices 2022-2025 → Analysis of Analysis of election manifestos economic Translation Chapter 1: Outlines effects 10 parties 2000 measures CPB March 2021 1 Outlines of the election manifestos This year is the 10th time that CPB is publishing an analysis of election manifestos of political parties, ahead of the House of Representatives general elections in the Netherlands. Ten political parties accepted CPB’s invitation to participate in this year’s analysis of the budgetary and economic effects of their party’s election manifesto.1 Nine of them also participated in the previous edition (2017), and the 50PLUS party is participating for the first time. For the 10 parties, a total of nearly 2000 measures were analysed. The analysis focuses on medium- and long-term budgetary and economic effects, rather than on welfare across the board. The analysis is of the macroeconomic impact of policy measures, thus representing only one aspect of a broader welfare assessment. A number of other aspects were analysed by PBL Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency, in its analysis of election manifestos. When voting for a particular party, many other considerations obviously also play an important role. Therefore, this analysis should not be considered a fully fledged voting advice tool, but rather an aid that enables concrete comparison of the effects of the parties’ election manifestos with regard to one particular dimension. The value of the analysis is in the comparison between the parties and not in detailed outcomes for any one of them. This edition of Charted Choices was constructed in an unusual economic situation.

P. van Spanje1 · R. Azrout1 © Springer Nature Limited 2019 Abstract Western democracies have witnessed gradual decline of voting according to socio- economic background factors. However, the emergence of elderly parties suggests increasing mobilization along generational lines, which would partly reverse this pattern. While religion and class voting have decreased, such new generational divide might make age, education and income salient (again). However, to what extent is support for these parties driven by such mobilization—rather than by a-political protest, or by politics as usual? Focusing on 50Plus in the Netherlands, the most successful current Western elderly party, we fnd evidence for mobilization on a new divide. Many older, less educated voters who feel poor vote for 50Plus, irrespective of their feelings of mere protest or their position on dominant policy issues. Furthermore, perceptions of 50Plus substantially vary with age and income combined. Our fndings suggest that 50Plus heralds the emergence of a novel divide. To what extent this divide revitalizes socio-economic background factors in Western politics remains to be seen.     Verantwoording New Food Kieswijzer 23 februari 2021 De New Food Kieswijzer vat voor de Tweede Kamerverkiezingen 2021 de standpunten samen van politieke partijen over het thema voedseltransitie, specifiek de transitie naar minder dierlijke en meer plantaardige of gekweekte eiwitten. Ook maken we inzichtelijk hoe de kiezers van de verschillende partijen over dit thema denken. Om de New Food Kieswijzer samen te stellen is grondig gekeken naar partijstandpunten, verkiezingsprogramma's en kiezersonderzoek. Kiezersonderzoek Allereerst is door Kieskompas in opdracht van ProVeg uitgezocht hoe de Nederlandse kiezer denkt over vleesconsumptie en de transitie naar minder dierlijk voedsel. Dit is gedaan middels een representatieve enquête. Op basis hiervan selecteerden wij 10 stellingen waarvoor draagvlak is onder een meerderheid (50% of meer) van alle Nederlanders. We brachten ook in kaart hoe kiezers van de verschillende partijen over deze stellingen dachten. Aan dit onderzoek deden 8575 mensen mee uit het panel van Kieskompas. De resultaten zijn gewogen naar geslacht, leeftijd, opleiding, etniciteit en stemgedrag zodat de data ten aanzien van al deze kenmerken representatief zijn voor de stemgerechtigde inwoners van Nederland. De partijvoorkeur van kiezers baseert Kieskompas op de partij waarop deelnemers in de enquête aangaven gestemd te hebben tijdens de laatste Tweede Kamerverkiezingen, in 2017. In het panel zaten helaas niet genoeg kiezers van de partijen DENK en BIJ1 om betrouwbare data op te leveren. Hierdoor konden de voorkeuren van deze kiezers niet in kaart gebracht worden. In het onderzoeksrapport is meer te lezen over de precieze uitkomsten, en vind je ook verdere achtergronden: over de motivatie van kiezers, welke kwantitatieve doelstellingen zij vinden dat de overheid moet nastreven en of de overheid zich wel mag bemoeien met ons eten.

At a glance The Netherlands is the main constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Since 1848 it has been governed as a parliamentary democracy and a constitutional monarchy, organised as a unitary state. The Dutch Parliament "Staten-Generaal" is a bicameral body. It consists of two chambers, both of which are elected for four-year terms. The 150 Members of the Second Chamber, the Tweede Kamer, are directly elected through a national party-list system, on the basis of proportional representation. The current Dutch coalition government under the second term of Prime Minister Mark Rutte (VVD/ALDE) since November 2012 is composed of the People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD/ALDE) and the Labour Party (PvdA/S&D). 2.
