Keeping It Alive: Mapping Bangkok’s Diverse Living Culture Bussakorn Binson+ Pattara Komkam++ Pornprapit Phaosavadi+++ and Kumkom Pornprasit++++ (Thailand) Abstract This research project maps Bangkok’s living local culture sites while exploring, compiling and analyzing the relevant data from all 50 districts. This is an overview article of the 2011 qualitative !eld research by the Urban Research Plaza and the Thai Music and Culture Research Unit of Chulalongkorn University to be published in book form under the title Living Local Cultural Sites of Bangkok in 2012. The complete data set will be transformed into a website fortifying Bangkok’s cultural tourism to remedy its reputation as a destination for sex tourism. The !ve areas of cultural activity include the performing arts, rites, sports and recreation, craftsmanship, and the domestic arts. It was discovered that these living local cultural sites mirror the heterogeneity of its residents with their diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. There are local culture clusters of Laotians, Khmers, Mon, Chinese, Islam, Brahman-Hinduism, and Sikhs as well as Westerners. It was also found that the respective culture owners are devoted to preserve their multi-generational heritage. The natural beauty of these cultural sites remains clearly evident and vibrant, even though there remain dif!culties hampering their retention. The mapping of these sites are discussed as well as the issues surrounding those cultural sites that are in danger of extinction due to the absence of successors and other supportive factors necessary for their sustainability. Bangkok’s Everyday Transport Assemblage: The Formal-Informal Interplay and Meshwork Urbanism Kisnaphol Wattanawanyoo (1) (1) King Mongkut 's University of Technology Thonburi, Thailand Corresponding author: [email protected] ABSTRACT This paper seeks to render Bangkok’s everyday transport assemblage with special attention to the informal transport systems/modes on the Thonburi side of Bangkok (western side of the Chao Phraya River). The main aim of the paper is to visualize/display the various existing typologies of informal transport practices along the main route of The Bangkok Mass Transit System (BTS Skytrain or in short - BTS). It will also examine the relationship between the formal and informal transport system and practices along BTS Thonburi line, especially at the intermodal connections/linkages at the various BTS stations. This study adopts the ‘assemblage thinking’ as the theoretical and analytical framework in highlighting the formal-informal transport relationship. This paper applied several methods for the fieldwork survey and data collection including observation, informal conversational interview, mapping and photography. The analysis will emphasis on the co-functioning of various transport modes/systems, and the interwoven and the dynamic interplay of the formal-informal systems and networks will be discussed. This study highlighted Bangkok’s informal transport systems/practices have been paid little attention and did not gain much recognition by the State and authorities. As a result, there are discrepancies and fragments of Bangkok’s comprehensive urban transport information and database. This paper also argues that the State and local authorities themselves are also the one producing these urban informality. By mapping and visualizing these informal everyday transport assemblages and meshwork, it could help to unpack Bangkok’s complexity and dynamic relationship at play and could also help to understand how the whole urban transport system work. -

The shareholding in Bangkok Metro Networks Limited (BMN) On March 27, 2019, the Company purchased 5.08 Million ordinary shares of BMN, which is the subsidiary company, equal to 20 percent of its issued and paid-up share capital from its existing shareholders. As a result of this transaction, the Company’s shareholding in BMN increased from 69.67 percent to 89.67 percent. 2. Dividend payment On April 26, 2019, the 2019 Annual General Meeting of the Company’s shareholders had a resolution to approve a dividend payment from 2018 operating results of Baht 0.15 per share. The Company paid an interim dividend of Baht 0.06 per share on September 19, 2018, and a dividend of Baht 0.09 per share on May 22, 2019. On August 9, 2019, the Meeting of the Company’s Board of Directors passed a resolution to approve an interim dividend payment of Baht 0.06 per share, which was paid on September 4, 2019. 3. The reclassification of the investment in TTW Public Company Limited (TTW) During the second quarter of the year 2019, the Company has sold partial of TTW’s shares, as a result, the interest in the equity of TTW decreased to 18.47 percent. Following this sale, the Company reclassified the investment in TTW from investment in associated company to investment in available-for-sale securities, which consistent with the investment proportion and the purpose of the Company investment. -
