CUB SCOUT LEADER / PARENT POW WOW 2007 “MARDI GRAS”

WHAT IS POW WOW? Pow Wow is THE annual Cub Scout Training Event of the year! An entire year’s worth of new ideas and inspiration that will enhance your Cub Scout Pack and its program. Pow Wow is a great opportunity to meet with other Scouters, share ideas and have Cub Scout FUN! There are classes in Crafts, Cooking, Cub Scout Resources, Cub Scout Programs and much more. We have also added some new courses to the list. It will be a full day of fun to remember!

WHO SHOULD ATTEND POW WOW? Pow Wow is for ALL adults (Den Leaders, Tiger Cub Partners, Cubmasters, Webelos Leaders and parents) interested in the Cub Scout Program. There will also be an all day Den Chief Training for Boy Scouts at the same time (and there is Child Care, see below) so bring the whole family!

WHAT IS DEN CHIEF TRAINING? Den Chief Training at Pow Wow is a full day of leadership training to help Boy Scouts learn the necessary skills needed to be a fantastic Den Chief. The $15 registration fee covers the program materials, lunch and a trained patch.

WHEN IS POW WOW? Saturday January 20th, 2007, from 8:00am to 4:00pm

WHERE IS POW WOW? It will take place at St. Patrick/St. Vincent High School, 1500 Benicia Road, Vallejo, CA

St. Patrick/St. Vincent High School is only 13 miles from the Council Office. Take 680 N towards Sacramento. Cross the Benicia Bridge ($3 toll) and take the left lanes onto the 780 W Ramp towards Benicia/Vallejo. Take the Glen Cove Road exit and turn right. Turn right at the first signal onto Benicia Road and the school is on the left side across from CHP. -OR- Take 80 to 780 E to the Glen Cove Road exit. Turn left at the signal, cross over the freeway and turn right at the next signal onto Benicia Road. The school is on the left side across from CHP.

WHAT CLASSES CAN I TAKE? There are an extensive variety of classes to take at Pow Wow! Look at the Course List and pick your 6 classes. Make sure you choose 6 alternate classes in case your first choice is full. The only problem may be that you want to sign up for everything! Solve that by teaming up with other pack leaders and parents and split up to cover all the classes offered at the same time. It’s an excellent way to make the most of Pow Wow. You can also follow the suggested classes that are outlined on the top of the Course List page.

CAN I BRING MY KIDS TO POW WOW? Child Care is available for potty-trained children 3 to 10 years old. THIS IS ONLY AVAILABLE FOR THE FIRST 50 PRE-REGISTERED CHILDREN (NO DROP-IN CARE). CHILDREN MUST BE REGISTERED BY FRIDAY JANUARY 5TH, 2007. The Child Care Fee is $10 per child and includes snacks, lunch and craft materials. PLEASE PAY THIS FEE AT THE DOOR. Child Care hours are from 8:00am to 11:55am and from 12:55pm to 3:45pm. YOU MUST PICK UP YOUR CHILD FOR LUNCH AND FOR CLOSING.

HOW DO I REGISTER? The easiest way is to register online at the council website, www.bsa-mdsc.org, and follow the link to Pow Wow. Just fill out the registration form online, pay online and submit it all electronically. You can also mail your registration to the Council Office if you’d like. Calculate the cost based on when you sign up. If you want extra Pow Wow Goody Bags, just add $5 per bag. Include a check with your registration form if you mail or hand deliver to Council. Registrations received before 12/31/06 will be confirmed by e-mail. We’ll be accepting late registrations at Council until Thursday January 18th at 5:00pm. Registration at Pow Wow begins promptly at 8:00am.

HOW MUCH DOES POW WOW COST? Registration is $20 by Friday 1/5/07 and includes a Pow Wow Goody Bag, course materials, collectible patch and lunch. Late registration is $25 (1/6/07 to 1/20/07).
