This publication is also an important milestone for Myanmar Development Research (MDR) as it is the organization’s first project that was conducted directly in response to the needs of civil society and different stakeholders who have been putting efforts in the process of the political transition of Myanmar towards a peaceful and developed democratic society. Myanmar Dry Zone Development Programme Scoping Report December 2014 FAO Investment Centre i Foreword from the LIFT Fund Director This report was commissioned by the Livelihoods and Food Security Trust Fund (LIFT) as part of the process of designing a new LIFT programme for the central dry zone (DZ) of Myanmar. The report was written by a team from the FAO Investment Centre following field work in 2013 and 2014. The report includes the results of field work carried out in the preselected target area for the programme: Myingyan, Taungtha, Natogyi and Mahlaing in Mandalay Region and Pakokku and Yesagyo in Magway Region. The report presents a number of options for LIFT’s future DZ programme with a special focus on increasing on-farm and off-farm incomes and improving the well-being of the rural poor, and building on the learning of current and previous projects in the region by both LIFT partners and other development partners. However, the FAO team did not participate in the consultations that the LIFT Fund Management Office conducted in July and August 2014, and the report does not reference the new LIFT strategy on 2014. Therefore, the report should be read as an important contribution to the development of LIFT’s DZ programme, but it should not be construed as a description of the final programme that will emerge. We expect that a series of calls for proposals will be launched in January and February of 2015, each of which will articulate more precisely the outcomes of the programme and the kinds of activities that LIFT would like to implement as part of the programme.

Maubin University Research Journal 2020, Vol. 11 63 A Spatial Distribution on the Outbreak of Tuberculosis (TB) Disease in Magway Township (Tropical Region) Zaw Moe1, Lai Lai Aung2, Han Zaw Htun3 Abstract At present, the outbreak of tuberculosis (TB) disease is an important issue in the Dry Zone of Central Myanmar. This research paper investigates how the physical factors influence TB disease and how the social factors relate to the outbreak of TB disease in the study area. The study area is Magway Township lying in Tropical Region of the Dry Zone of Central Myanmar. Tuberculosis (TB) disease is a disease that is prevalent in tropical and subtropical regions. In the present day, this disease is easily transmitted from person to person in the study area because of high temperature, low rainfall, crowded population and low level awareness of the local people. The study area is still experiencing the outbreak of TB disease. There are many methods to classify the outbreak of TB disease in the study area. Keywords: tuberculosis, outbreak, transmitted Introduction The research paper is entitled “A Spatial Distribution on the Outbreak of Tuberculosis (TB) Disease in Magway Township (Tropical Region)”. The outbreak of TB disease in the study area is largely depending on the physical factors as well as related to the social factors. One of the most important factors is a climatic factor in the study area. The other physical factors like relief, drainage, soil and natural vegetation also play influences on the distribution of the disease. Magway is situated in the Dry Zone of Central Myanmar.

Background at Magway region level According to the heavily raining during July and August 2015, there was flooding in many parts of Myanmar including Magway Region. According to DSWRR, Government Administration Department and Department of Education data updated in 2nd September 2015, 308046 population from 18 townships was affected by this flooding. At the township level data included affected villages name, households and population has been developed by DRD and WASH implementing member organizations during October 2015. This village and township level WASH implementing data has been profiled for 13 townships. 5 townships still left to develop for village and township level WASH data filling process. These townships are Chauk, Seik Phyu, Saw, Nga Phe and Gant Gaw townships. The WASH data updating process will conduct also in these township in the coming months by coordination with Government Administration Department, Township DRD, RRD and other WASH actors of these townships. According to the collected data for 13 flooded townships of Magway Region, 264955 population of 61930 households from 496 villages were suffered from the Flooding
