Phuket Island Has Been Blessed with Beautiful Islands and Bays Around Phuket Island has been blessed with beautiful Islands and Bays around its coastline and one of the greatest experiences here is to cruise, snorkel and lunch in the calm-water bays and magnificent small Islands close by. Trisara Cruises offers a wide range of boating excursions, the most popular of which is the half or full day cruise to explore the stunning Phang Nga Bay (James Bond Island), and the Islands of Krabi We work in partnership with the most professional charter companies on Phuket to select the newest and most comprehensive fleet of vessels available. Whether you choose a one-hour snorkel out to the small Island directly in front of Trisara, a half day cruise to Phang Nga Bay or a full day trip to the incredible Similan Islands on one of our luxury cruisers, we urge you to experience boating at least once during your stay with us. This guide is an outline of what we can organise for you in the world of boating. If you would like to have futher information, make a booking or have a specific request, please talk to a Senior Resort Host on Ext. 2, or the management team at anytime. Koh Waeo This small rocky outcrop, lying approximately one kilometer due west of Trisara, is Phuket’s best near-shore snorkeling spot. The coral encircling Koh Waeo, lying between 1 to 5 meters below the surface, is protected by national park status. With comparatively low visitor numbers, tropical fish populations are abundant. Trisara Cruises offers a guided snorkeling cruise on board Trisara 1. Please Dial 2 for more details. West Coast Beaches In addition to the main, populated beaches, Phuket’s West Coast boasts several pristine beaches surrounded by tropical jungle and best reached by boat. These hard to reach beaches include Nui Beach at the southern tip of the island, Freedom Beach, situated in a nationaal Park, and Laem Sing Beach in Surin. Aside from pristine beaches, the West Coast Beaches Cruise provides excellent viewing of Phuket’s recent real estate renaissance, passing most of the Island’s notable sea front homes and estates Phang Nga Bay (Half Day) Phang Nga Bay lies just northeast of Phuket and is one of the world’s scenic wonders. The calm bay features hundreds of magnificent limestone Islands formed over millions of years of tidal movements. The Bay was made famous when the movie “James Bond : The Man with Golden Gun” was filmed here in the 70’s. A light lunch is served picnic style on the beach or on board. Our Phang Nga Bay Half Day Cruise can be completed comfortably in as little as four hours onboard one of our luxury speed boats. Phang Nga Bay and Koh Hong Krabi (Full Day) This cruise combines snorkeling at Koh Hong, Krabi with great sightseeing in Phang Nga Bay. There are approximately 200 islands around the Krabi coastline which lies to the east of Phuket. Many islands are small rocky outcrops, seen as if erupting from the surrounding sea. Unlike Phang Nga, the waters are clear and the beaches are beautiful around the Islands, many with intricate cave systems. Krabi (Full Day) The coastline of Krabi is home to some of Thailand’s most famous sights. The cruise to Krabi is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes from the marina on board a Sports Cruiser. Due to the exposure of the coast to the western monsoon, this cruise is best taken during the months of December to April. This cruise visits Railay Beach and Chicken Island, with optional stops at Koh Naka nearer to Phuket, and the deserted sandy beach spit of Koh Nok in the Koh Hong Krabi Archipelago. Phi Phi (Full Day) Phi Phi, one of Phuket’s most famous destinations, is accessible on calm days during the winter season on board a Sports Cruiser, and year-round on board our selection of large motor yachts. Highlights of our Phi Phi Cruise include snorkeling at Koh Khai, swimming in the Lagoon at Phi Phi Ley, and snorkeling & sunning stops at Monkey Beach and Maya Bay. It can be very busy from 9.30 so we recommend leaving early to get there before the crowds. Racha Islands (Full Day) Start your day with a wonderful welcome drink, then cruise south to Racha Yai Island. Located south of Phuket, it reveals itself in splendid manner as you approach Ao Bungalow, the U-shaped main bay of this island. The water here is clear and perfect for snorkeling. The other large bay, Ao Siam, is a pretty place. Cruise slowly to Coral Island, A picturesque tropical island surrounded by colorful coral reefs. Known locally as Koh Hae, it has two long stretches of white, sandy beach on one side and a few quiet bays on the other. Long beach is one of the best spots on the island for snorkeling, an ideal location for beginners and kids. Spend a carefree afternoon swimming, snorkeling and enjoying some water sports. Similan (Full Day) The Similans Marine National Park, lying 2 hours northwest of Trisara, is accessible on calm weather days. Due to the closure of the park during the summer season, this cruise is offered only from December through April. The Similans boasts perhaps Phuket’s best diving and snorkeling, as well as a wide selection of soft white sand beaches featuring large granite boulders. Choose from our selection of luxury yachts and add a dive master and equipment, to create the ultimate scuba diving experience, or leave from Trisara on directly to the Similans. FOREWORD The diminishing fishery resources along the coasts have increasingly added more pressure to the livelihood of fisherfolk all over Asia. Moreover, increase in the number of fishers due to population growth and migration to coastal communities can be a contributing factor in the overexploitation of local fishery resources and deterioration of the coastal environment. Recognizing that better understanding on the demographic and social dynamics of coastal fishing communities would help in developing policies to achieve sustainable use and conservation of fishery resources and the coastal environment, FAO initiated a project in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to strengthen research and training on population and development dynamics of rural fishing communities in Asia and Africa in 1995.
