Cub and Girl Scout Badge Program

630-848-5000 • napervilleparks.org Learn It, Earn It!

2 Learn It, Earn It! The Naperville Park District is pleased to offer several new Learn It, Earn It! scout badge programs for local scout troops and dens. Group badge programs are designed to accomplish badge requirements. With over 30 programs for scouts, the Naperville Park District is your scouting headquarters for art, cooking, nature, science badges and more. Badge Programs • Badge programs are led by knowledgeable instructors who are Youth Protection trained/certified. • Programs are designed to fulfill badge requirements. Badge requirements covered are highlighted in the program descriptions and will be more detailed within your contract. • The program instructor will make every effort to cover the badge requirements listed under each badge program. However, some requirements or portions of a requirement may need to be completed during future scout meetings. • All Brownie, Junior and Cadette badge programs include badges for each participant. Daisy programs do not include badges. • Due to the complex nature of awarding beads, points, pins and/or badges upon completion of Cub Scout achievements and electives , the Park District does not provide these items. Cub Scout leaders are responsible for obtaining these recognition items for their scouts. • The Carillon Tour includes a special patch for each scout. • Some of the programs listed do not meet specific badge requirements but are designed to provide opportunities for fun, hands-on experiences that promote personal growth and exploration. Payment/Fees • Full payment is due at the time of registration. • Program fees vary and are based on the number of participants that can be accommodated within each program, the required program materials/supplies and the length of the program. Some programs also include badges for each scout. Number of Chaperones/Scout Leaders • A minimum of 1 scout leader per 5 scouts is required for badge programs. • Fishing programs require 1 scout leader for 3 scouts. • In order to maintain the quality of the program and manageability of the group, no more than 6 scout leaders per group are permitted to attend (except for fishing programs). Siblings • Programs are designed for the scouts’ age group and not intended for younger or older children. For this reason, siblings are discouraged from participating in scout programs. • If siblings must attend with the group and plan to participate in the program, they may do so for an additional fee, provided the total number of children does not exceed the program maximum. • Siblings/non-scouts may be asked to leave the program if they are disruptive. Cancellation and Refund Policy • Programs cancelled more than two weeks prior to the start of the program will be refunded the program fee minus a $25 cancellation fee. • Cancellations made less than two weeks prior to the start of the program will receive a 50% refund of the program fee. Program Confirmation • A registration confirmation will be sent via e-mail upon payment. • Within one week of registration, the contact person will receive an e-mailed contract packet. Packet will include a contract with specific details about the program and a waiver that must be copied, completed and signed by each scout’s parent/guardian and brought to the program. On the Day of Your Program • Please arrive on time. Programs that start late may need to be shortened and this may affect the instructor’s ability to cover all the requirements. • Staff needs time before the program begins to prepare materials and will be ready to greet your group at the scheduled start time. • Bring a signed and dated waiver form for each scout. • Some programs require groups to bring food items. Please check your program confirmation email/packet for more details. 3 Girl Scout Programs: Daisy
