2015-2016 Annual Report years of10 providing quality music education. A COMMITMENT TO OUR MISSION Education Through Music-Los Angeles partners with inner-city schools with the mission to provide and pro- mote music in disadvantaged schools as a part of the core curriculum for every child to enhance students’ academic achievement, creativity and overall develop- ment. IN-SCHOOL MUSIC EDUCATION PROGRAMS Education Through Music-Los Angeles (ETM-LA) integrated its in-school music programs for under-served student populations with the mission to provide and promote the integration of mu- sic into the curriculum of disadvantaged schools in order to en- hance students’ academic performance, creativity, and general development. ETM-LA provides each of our partner schools with a 45-minute weekly music class on a yearlong basis. These classes provide an assortment of musical disciplines including violin, cello, guitar, recorder, general music, and chorus. Each school’s programs are tailored to meet the needs of each specific population based on the vision of the school’s principal, with the guidance of an ETM-LA consultant or mentor. Students at all partner schools performed in two concerts to showcase their musical learning in the fall and spring semesters. 2015-2016 Annual Report | 3 OUR PARTNER SCHOOLS To support the quality of instruction in the classroom and teach- ing artist’s ability to educate children, ETM-LA provided ongoing mentorship and evaluation of our music teachers by multiple staff (Executive Director, Program Director, and Mentor Teacher Supervisors). On August 15-19, 2016, ETM-LA held our week-long, intensive Summer Training Institute for new and returning music teachers and guest teaching artists from other arts organizations. -

Education Through Music-Los Angeles 2013-2014 Annual Report September 1, 2013 through August 31, 2014 In-School Music Education Programs Education Through Music-Los Angeles (ETM-LA) expanded its in- school music programs for underserved student populations with the mission to provide and promote the integration of music into the curricula of disadvantaged schools in order to enhance students’ academic performance and creative and general development. ETM-LA provided 45-minute weekly music classes at each of our partner schools on a yearlong basis with a variety of music disciplines– including violin, cello, guitar, recorder, general music, and chorus. The programs at each school were tailored to meet the needs of each population based on the vision of the Principal with guidance from ETM-LA. Students at all partner schools performed in two concerts to showcase their musical learning in the Fall and Spring semesters. Students visit Sonic Fuel Studios and participate in a recording session in partnership with One Voice. o support the quality of instruction in the classroom and teaching artists’ ability to educate children, ETM-LA provided In-School Music Education Programs ongoing mentorship and evaluation of its music teachers by multiple staff (Executive Director, Program Director, and other Tveteran teachers). In September 2013, ETM-LA held its weeklong intensive Summer Training Institute for its new and returning music teachers and guest teaching artists from other arts organizations. The institute focused on topics including Lesson Planning, Classroom Management, Integration, Creative Strategies, Assessment of Student Learning, Concert Preparation and Presentation, Singing Technique, Strings Methods, Teaching Copyright, and Pedagogy (Orff, Kodaly, Dalcroze, Suzuki, et al.). -

Surge has settled in as Big City’s superhero. His nemesis, the Metal Master, is out of jail again, trying to reconcile with his estranged parents (played by Linda Blair and Gil Gerard). Are they more concerned about their son being gay than being a supervillain? Metal Master is tempted to continue a life of crime by Augur (Eric Roberts), old arch enemy of Omen, the sage superhero from the first movie (played by Robert Picardo and Nichelle Nichols). Augur sends Metal Master on a mission to Las Vegas for a strange crystal with unique properties key to Augur’s diabolical scheme. Surge tracks Metal Master to Las Vegas and is out of his element in a strange town. Surge is soon aided by local college students, Wendy, Marvin and Todd, deploying their own talents to help Surge uncover Metal Master’s activities, which also puts Surge in awkward situations. Cut off from his support in Big City and in need of more help, Surge activates the artificial intelligence in his high-tech car, the Surgemobile (portrayed first by Bruce Vilanch, six-time Emmy Award winner, comedian and writer, and later another artificial intelligence personality played by Shannon Farnon, Wonder Woman from the Super Friends!). -
