New well-being area at the Pa rc Hôtel >

After the creation of a conference centre of 900m² and 10 meeting rooms in 2018, the Parc Hôtel expanded by making a well-being area of 2,500m² during the first quarter of 2019. The two spas target different clientele by proposing a completely new concept in France: a labyrinth-designed pool with a channel of sensory bathing areas, a dozen small rooms to explore, connected by corridors of water with a dozen attractions along the way. 90 attractions are planned: waterfalls, water jets, music, benches, currents, etc. An 18-metre long infinity pool bordered by a glass window will finish off this new, indoor spa area. Giant recreational sport globe in the Forest > DRACHENBRONN

Planned to be finished for July 2019, this project is based on architecture, movement, nature and relaxation with an intergenerational aspect. It aims to install around forty sporty, entertaining and fun areas with varied difficulty levels within a wooden globe-shaped structure of 40m in diameter, opening up onto the surrounding nature. The park also plans to have a “tree- top walk” and a recreational and rest area to enjoy nature. It is also planned with the idea of transferring informative knowledge regarding sports, health and nature.

This summer, after obtaining the label of “Ville d’Art et d’Histoire”, Strasbourg will open at 5, Place du Châ- teau (next to the Cathedral), an area of 600m² dedica- ted to culture, architecture and Strasbourg-specific heritage, called “The 5th Place” (Le 5e lieu). Immediately upon entering, visitors can admire an ever- changing map representing the city from a human, architectural and urban standpoint. At the convergence of several cultures and civilisations, Alsace was shaped through an opulent and often troublesome history. Alsace has witnessed some dark but also prosperous hours on the European continent, and today still reveals traces of this through its monuments, dialect and culture. Created on the initiative of Alsace Destination Tourisme, this Web application shows and explains the enthralling history of Alsace to a wide audience. This portal type application also highlights memorial and historic landmarks to invite people both to discover and visit them. 17<< “Resort Centre” at the Schlucht mountain pass > LA SCHLUCHT

After several decades of thinking and debates, the planning for a “resort centre” at the Schlucht is taking shape. A former border crossing between France and Germany between 1871 and 1918 on the Vosges mountain ridges, a transit point between Alsace and the Lorraine, this pass will become more appealing by the securing of the site and the building of “l’Espace des Vosges” which will welcome mountain guides, the Schlucht French Ski School, the tourist offices of the Hautes Vosges and the Munster Valley, rescue workers, police, a souvenir and ski rental shop, a brasserie and notably a welcome and observation centre of know- hows, of built heritage and natural areas. Last but not least it will let visitors have an experience- filled adventure with ski lifts to access the peaks, guided tours, snowshoe walks and to finish off, renting or mountain or electric bikes. The Schweitzer home > GUNSBACH

Some 375 m² will be added to the house-museum to the rear of the existing building to highlight the work of the great doctor and humanist, Albert Schweitzer. The work consists of a glassed-in gallery and semi-hidden rooms with a ticket office, self-guiding tour and cultural programming. The house will also be renovated allowing the rooms to return to their original functions. His native home in Kaysersberg will also be renovated. Michelin Starred Re staurants for 2019

Three new restaurants were awarded a first Michelin star: Les Funambules in Strasbourg, La Carambole in and L’Orchidée in Altkirch. It was an emotional moment when we learned that the Auberge de l’Ill in Illhaeusern lost a star, this prominent Alsace fine-dining establishment which has been around for 51 years. In 2019, Alsace has the same number of starred restaurants as in 2018 (31). As a side note, an exclusive, national honour for the new award based on hospitality and table service attributed to Sarah Benahmed for the Crocodile in Strasbourg.

This exhibit makes visitors travel over time. All the country members have signed the European Convention of Human Rights and have created a juris- diction, the European Court of Human Rights, to ensure that their own commitments are respected. 2019 will also coincide with the 60 years of existence of the Strasbourg Court and with the French chairmans- hip of the Committee of Ministers – the executive body of the Organisation (May-November). Elsass’Bike > WANGENBOURG-ENGENTHAL > July 6 and 7, 2019

The Elsass’Bike, a vast mountain biking event proposes the following: Ultra (130 km), Marathon (110 km), Challenge (90 km) and Rando (30, 45 and 60 km). This event is great to discover the Vosges mountain range on the Swiss side of Alsace and to undertake sporting feats. The 30 km and 130 km trails are for 1-day adventures and are not timed along mountain bike trails which alternate between cycle-friendly and technical tracks (60). The 110 km and 130 km trails can be done in 2 days. The Swiss part of Alsace is packed full of remarkable sites to visit like the Wangenbourg Castle, along with family walking paths to discover. The Manufacture > STRASBOURG

The works are underway and during the summer of 2017, the municipality gave people a sneak-preview of what it will look like with temporary spaces. In the heart of the Bobo and student district of Krutenau, the former tobacco factory represents a huge worksite- project of 21,500 m² with projects focused on youth, the arts, sciences and experimentation. The University will create a cluster with the National School of Water and Environmental Engineering, the School and Observatory for Life Sciences, and the Visual Arts School and Music Academy of Strasbourg. For September 2020, a new Anglo-Saxon youth hostel concept will open, called the Hostel with 264 beds, project with: a 100% organic direct-sales store, food- from double rooms to 8-bed rooms. The central truck, farm-inn in the city, bistronomic area, coffee courtyard of 5,000 m² will be focused on anything shops with outdoor seating. There will also be an event organic, with a collective of producers, restaurant area with scheduled cultural programs and planned owners, associations and citizens around the LAB entertainment.
