WEST SENECA, NEW YORK Week of April 26, 2020 From the Desk of Jennifer Lang, Director of Faith Formation Be Today is the Third Sunday of Easter. Today would have been the celebration of First Communion for eight children at our Parish. The children had been preparing for this day. God is asking them to wait a little longer to receive Him in the Eucharist. Perhaps the plan of the Holy Spirit is to tell us all to be patient, in- crease our desire for the , and thereby strengthen our faith. Let us continue to pray and learn about our faith in anticipation when we can do so in Community. Pray also for our little ones. Jennifer Lang, Director of Faith Formation Email: [email protected]

Scriptures for Next Sunday First Reading: Acts 2:14a, 36-41 Psalm: 23:1-6 Second Reading: 1 Pt 2:20b-25 : Jn 10:1-10 The Sanctuary Light will shine this week for Thomas F. Kubacki, by Family. Pope Pius V (April 30th) Pope Pius V (1504-1572), was a saintly man who came from a poor Italian family and en- tered the at the age of four- teen. A teacher, a master of novices, a Bishop and Cardinal and Pope, he was known in all these roles as a strict and honest Pope as well as a zealous reformer. The had ended three years before, and his task was to carry out the decisions of that Council. He began changes immediately. He ordered the money given for his coronation to be sent to hospitals and those in need. The Church’s finances were examined, army re- duced, and the life-styles of the Cardinals and Bishops simplified. With the help of St. , semi- naries were established, synods were held, dioceses were organized, and parish priests were called to regular meet- ings. The Roman used at Mass and the Divine Of- fice was revised. As only six years as Pope, St. Pius V died of a painful disease of which he had never complained.
