SUMMER BALL
The Summer Ball is a white tie ball.
Gentlemen should wear:
• Highland Evening Dress with jacket, black tie or jabot, stiff or soft white shirt. • White tie and tail coat • Armed Forces’ Mess Dress. • Decorations • Highland accoutrements are encouraged. • Coloured bow ties, coloured shirts and smoking jackets should not be worn. • Gentlemen should not remove their jackets.
Ladies should wear:
• Full length ball dresses with hems no more than 6 inches from the floor all the way round. Slits are permitted but they must not be higher than the knee. • Tartan sashes and tiaras are encouraged. • Culottes and trousers should not be worn.
CHRISTMAS BALL
The Christmas Ball is a black tie ball.
Gentlemen should wear:
• Highland evening dress with jacket, black tie or jabot, soft white shirt. • Armed Forces’ Mess Dress or Mess Undress. • Black dinner jacket, tartan jacket or smoking jacket, black trousers or trews. • Decorations (except by those in uniform), coloured bow ties and coloured shirts should not be worn.
At no time should gentlemen remove their jackets.
Ladies should wear:
Dresses as for the Summer Ball, although full-length skirts may be worn rather than ball dresses. Tartan sashes are encouraged. Tiaras, trousers or culottes should not be worn.
PICNIC BALL
This is a relaxed picnic and reel party and the dress is casual – e.g. open-necked shirt, jerseys and kilts or trews for gentlemen and the equivalent for ladies.
9 – 90’s Reel Party
This is a family Reel Party where those over 18 should dress similarly to the Christmas Ball whilst those under 18 should wear their best party kit.
