Joint assessment teams con- sisting of IOM, ANDMA, ARCS and IRC initiated assessment on 09 December. Due to visible cracks on a hill next to the community and underlying risk of a landslide, 33 families were forced to leave their dwellings. The families were evacuated and currently hosted by relatives in the same village. So far, no damages reported by the assessment team however the areas is under high risk of landslide and the families are advised not to return to their houses. Considering the vulnerabilities of the families, the team recom- mended winter warm clothing and blankets, the next PDCM meeting will decide on allocation of land for the displaced families. IOM will distribute winter clothing and blankets while ANDMA will distribute food items and 15,000AFS cash for rent. Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR): The tools and equipment for early warning, search and rescue and first aid was procured and delivered to remaining 5 communities in central region ( Kabul, Kapisa, Parwan, Panjshir ). The community based disaster risk management trainings in these communities were delivered in September and October 2017 and Community Disaster Manage- ment Committees (CDMC) were established in these communities. Following the delivery of tools and equipment's, a simulation exercise will be conducted in these communi- ties. So far, 4,887 families have received assistance while the assessment and response is on-going by 25 joint assessment teams. Kunar: Due to cross border shelling from Pakistan, 826 families were reportedly displaced from Kunar (Shegal, Marawar, Shegal Wa Sheltan districts) to Asad Abad. So far, 886 families are assessed of which 577 families found eligible for humanitarian assistance . So far, 187 families have received assistance. Baghlan Conflict IDP: 1,465 families reported displaced from Samangan (Roye Do Aab) and Baghlan (Cheshmesher, Tala Wa Barfak, Sorba village of Borka district) currently residing in Pole Khumri city and center of Burka center. So far, 882 families assessed of which 406 families identified for assistance. 90 families have received assistance, WFP distributed food items, UNHCR distributed NFIs, DACCAR distributed hygiene kits and ACTED distributed multi-purpose cash. Balkh conflict IDP: 822 families reportedly displaced from different provinces in North and Northeast currently residing in Mazar City. 351 families have been assessed so far of which 346 families verified for assistance. 162 families have received of Food items, Hygiene kits, NFIs and multi-purpose cash from WFP DACAAR, PIN and SCI on 22 November. Jawzjan Conflict IDP: Reportedly 1,707 families displaced from Qushtepa district (Dasht Laili ,Jarsma Choqor, Taraghli Afghania, Bik Sar, Khanaga) to Sheberghan city and within Qushtepa district. 449 families have been assessed of which 218 families verified for assistance. 187 families have received humanitarian assistance. WFP distributed food items, PIN distributed cash and DACCAR distributed hygiene kits. Sare Pul Conlfict IDP: Reportedly 350-500 families displaced from Jawjan (Darzab district) and Sare Pul (different districts) to Sare Pul center. 288 families have been assessed so far of which 150 families verified for assistance. 64 families have received food and NFIs distributed by WFP and SCI while the remain 86 families will be assisted by WFP and SCI. Kunduz conflict IDP: 1,438 families reportedly displaced from Imam Saheb and Chahardarah district to Kunduz center. 2100 families assessed so far of which 968 families have been verified in need of assistance. 403 families have received assistance by NRC, ACTED,UNHCR and WFP and the distribution of relief items for the remaining 357 families will be concluded this week. Takhar conflict IDP: Reportedly 386 families displaced from Badakhshan, Kunduz and Takhar (different districts) to Takhar centre. 295 families assessed so far of which 120 families have been veri- fied for assistance, the assessment is on-going by the joint assessment team and will be completed till next week.     UNHCR BACKGROUND REPORT LOGAR PROVINCE Prepared by the Data Collection for Afghan Repatriation Project 1 December 1989 PREFACE 'lhe following report is one in a series of 14 provincial profiles prepared for the United Nations High commissioner for Refugees by the Data Collec­ tion for Afghan Repatriation Project. 'Ihe object of these reports is to provide detailed infonnation on the conditions affecting the repatriation of Afghan refugees in each province so that UNHCRand its inplementing partners may be better able to plan and target progrannnes of relief and rehabilitation assistance. Each of the provinces featured in this series is estimated to have at least 35 percent of its pre-1978 population living as refugees. Together, these 14 provinces -- Baghlan, Farah, Ghazni, Helmand, Herat, Kandahar, Kunar, I..aghman, I.Dgar, Nangarhar, Nbnroz, Paktia, Paktika and Zahll -- account for ninety percent of the Mghan refugee population settled in Iran and Pakistan. '!he Data Collection for Afghan Repatriation Project (OCAR)was funded by UNHCRto develop a database of infonnation on Afghanistan that would ser.ve as a resource for repatriation planning. Project staff based in Peshawar and Quetta have conducted interviews and surveys in refugee camps through­ out NWFP,Baluchistan and Punjab provinces in Pakistan to compile data on refugee origins, ethnic and tribal affiliation and likely routes of refugee return to Afghanistan. In addition, the.Pl?D)~ field staff undertake frequent missions into Afghanistan to gather specific infonn­ ation on road conditions, the availability of storage facilities, trans­ portation and fuel, the level of destruction of.housing, irrigation systems and fannland, the location of landmines and the political and military situation at the district (woleswali)and sub-district (alagadari) levels in those provinces of priority concern to UNHCR.

    Group 22 – Information Centre Asylum and Migration Briefing Notes 29 May 2017 Afghanistan Armed clashes Fights are continuing, with cleansing campaigns and raids carried out by the security forces as well as attacks and assaults by the insurgents, in which civilians are killed or wounded. According to press reports, the following provinces were affected during the last week: Ghazni, Paktia, Khost (southeast), Helmand, Kandahar, Uruzgan (south), Faryab (north), Kunduz, Badakhshan, Baghlan (northeast; here, the road between Pul-i-Khumri and Mazar-e Sharif and that between Kunduz and Khanabad were blocked due to fights), Ghor, Herat, Badghis, Farah (west), Nangarhar, Laghman (east), Kapisa und Logar (centre). Attacks and assaults On 22 May 2017, a girls’ school was blown up by unidentified extremists in southeastern Ghazni province. In central Logar, the chairman of the Islamic scholars’ council of the province was killed. On 23 May, three civilians were killed and four others injured in a bomb attack in Maiwand district of southern Kandahar province. On 24 May, a staff member of the school authority of southeastern Ghazni province was killed in a bomb attack. On 25 May, a teacher was killed and nine pupils were injured in northeastern Kunduz when a grenade hit launched by Taliban insurgents hit a school. On 26 May, a roadside bomb killed ten civilians and wounded another six in western Herat. On 27 May, a bomb attack targeting the local police in the capital of eastern Khost province killed 13 individuals and wounded another eight, among them several children. On 28 May, eleven people were freed from Taliban captivity in southern Helmand.

There are daily Threat Reports, but the received reports are mainly generic and lacking detail. It is possible that suicide attacks and indirect fire attacks can be expected in the city, but no time frames and/or specific targets were reported. Any attack in the city can be seen as a success for the insurgents, and they will make maximum use of the propaganda value of such an attack.
