Formed in 1990 to lobby for the rights Winemakers of its members to freely produce, market and sell their products, we currently represent over 450 producers. of California Direct-to-consumer sales blossomed after the U.S. Supreme Court issued its ruling in Granholm v. Tasting Heald. Now consumers in 41 states have a broader choice in wine. .and it’s because FWC provided key funding and steered the litigation battle. FWC has worked to keep taxes and fees on wine from rising, created new wine sales opportunities like farmers markets and event permits, stopped vine-killing pests, pushed for smart water rules, fought misguided labeling, and lobbied to keep state alcohol law up-to-date on the use of technology. Our legislative and regulatory work is augmented by the trade and consumer tastings we organize for our members to help them succeed in a highly competitive marketplace. This is our 24th year hosting events in the state. FWC’s fi rst tasting was held in 1991 at the Sheraton Palace Hotel in San Francisco. Many of our members pour at our Bay Area tasting, as well as in Southern California. The wineries at these tastings are just as dedicated today as they were in the beginning to producing the fi nest wines they can. You’ll taste their passion captured in each bottle. Family Winemakers ... Taste California! Fairplex here we come! Over 160 wineries pouring great wine from across California at the Exposition Center in Pomona. Sunday, March 15, 2015 (Trade and Public) Information, ticket sales and the trade August 17, 2014 registration form will be at: www.familywinemakers.org in June. San Mateo Event Center Welcome to the Family Winemakers of California’s 1st San Mateo Tasting! This tasting is a milestone for Family Winemakers since it’s the fi rst time our signature trade and consumer tasting is being held outside of San Francisco. Our 1st tasting at the San Mateo County Event Center is a refl ection of our vintners’ desire to reach the broader wine market on the Pennisula and in Silicon Valley. There are great wines to sample from a diverse group of 160 California wineries, 32 of which will be pouring for the fi rst time at our event. We are also featuring wines above $75 from a select number of wineries in a specially ticketed area called the iSip Lounge. FWC is the political and policy voice for small family-owned wineries. We lobbied water issues, fees and taxes, warning labels, farmer’s market tastings and farming regulations this year at the State Capitol and regulatory agencies. Continuing Pierce’s Disease and Red Blotch research remain at the top of our advocacy list. Consumers enjoy greater choice in California wines across the U.S. because of our advocacy. Artistry and passion are the hallmark of FWC wineries at these tastings and I’m sure you’ll taste it in your glass. Wonderful sponsors and vendors make this event a reality with their fi nancial support and participation. We appreciate and thank them! Our heartiest thanks are to you, our customers. Cheers, and enjoy the wines!
