Introduction

Manuscript Group 22 was designed to bring together the principal autograph collections held by the former Manuscript Division of the Public Archives of Canada (later, the National Archives of Canada, now Library and Archives Canada). MSS Finding Aid 727 provides a separate listing to identify the names attributed to the autographs for each collection (excepting A4, A12, A15, A16, C3 and C4). The order within each listing may be alphabetical or chronological, or in the sequence of appearance within the collection. Researchers should note that autographs excised from documents could not be identified with absolute certainty, absent contextual information regarding when and where they were inscribed.

In 1981 the Collection A. Léo Lemarie (formerly MG 22, B 1) was reintegrated with the fonds Léo Lemarie (MG 30, D 50, volume 5). MSS Finding Aid 386 provides no listing for it.

* * * * *
