ALLEN COUNTY, STATE OF KANSAS GENERAL ELECTION NOTICE NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the names of the following persons as having been nominated for the respective offices will appear on the ballot of the General Election to be held Tuesday, November 8, 2016. This amendment is to preserve constitutionally the right of the public to hunt, fish and trap wildlife subject to reasonable laws and regulations. The right of the public to hunt, fish and trap shall not modify any provision of common law or statutes relating to trespass, eminent domain or any other private property rights. ‘‘A vote for this proposition would constitutionally preserve the right of the public to hunt, fish and trap wildlife that has traditionally been taken by hunters, trappers and anglers. This public right is subject to state laws and rules and regulations regarding the management of wildlife and does not change or diminish common law or statutory rights relating to trespass, eminent domain or private property. ‘‘A vote against this proposition would provide for no constitutional right of the public to hunt, fish and trap wildlife. It would maintain existing state laws and rules and regulations governing hunting, fishing and trapping wildlife.’’ Yes No NOTICE OF SPECIAL CITY OF MILDRED QUESTION ELECTION To vote in favor of any question submitted on this ballot, darken the oval to the left of the word “Yes.” To vote against it, darken the oval to the left of the word “No.” “Shall the City of Mildred, Kansas remain a city under the statutes of the State of Kansas or shall the City of Mildred be dissolved as a corporate body and become a part of Osage Township?” For a city Against a city NOTICE OF SPECIAL COTTAGE GROVE TOWNSHIP QUESTION ELECTION To vote in favor of any question submitted on this ballot, darken the oval to the left of the word “Yes.” To vote against it, darken the oval to the left of the word “No.” “Shall all of the powers, duties and functions of the governing body of Cottage Grove Township be transferred to the Board of County Commissioners of Allen County, Kansas?” Yes No NOTICE OF SPECIAL USD#256 QUESTION ELECTION To vote in favor of any question submitted on this ballot, darken the oval to the left of the word “Yes.” To vote against it, darken the oval to the left of the word “No.” Shall the method of election of the Board of Education of Unified School District No. 256, Marmaton Valley, Allen County, be changed, pursuant to K.S.A. 72-8001 et seq., from the present six (6) member district, one (1) at-large, method of election and Voting Plan C, in which all electors, who are otherwise qualified according to law and who reside in a particular member district may vote in both the primary and general election for the member positions of such member districts and for the at-large member position. The change is proposed to be to the at-large method of election under which the school district is not divided into any member districts and all board members are elected at large, and to Voting Plan A under which all electors, who are otherwise qualified according to law, and who reside in the school district may vote in both the primary and general election for all member positions. Shall a change in the method of election and voting plan, as described in the ballot title above, be approved?" The Election Officer conducting the election will be the County Clerk of Allen County, Kansas, whose address is Allen County Courthouse, 1 N. Washington, Iola, KS 66749.
