    PRESS RELEASE 3 million dinars for support to farmers from the municipality of Prijepolje Prijepolje, June 7th, 2021 – The Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation, Prijepolje Municipality, and Zlatibor Regional Development Agency today signed an agreement that officially launched the 2021 Prijepolje Agriculture Development Fund. This innovative funding vehicle is supported by the USAID Competitive Economy Project. Prijepolje is the second municipality in the Zlatibor District, after Čajetina, to set up a farming development fund. The fund’s purpose is to provide multi-annual assistance to local farmers, with a total of 3 million dinars in capital provided by the Prijepolje local government and the Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation. “This is an innovative model that will allow the Fund to be used in a revolving arrangement to incentivize farmers from the area. The Municipality of Prijepolje will subsidize 30 percent of the incentives in the first year of the contract, while the remaining funds will be repaid by the beneficiaries, free of interest, on a schedule of 10 percent in the first year and 30 percent each in the second and third year of the contract”, said Vladimir Babić, Mayor of Prijepolje. Aleksandar Pavlović, Chief of Party of the USAID Competitive Economy Project, highlighted the difficulties faced by small-scale, traditional farmers in getting the finance they needed for initial investment into expanding and improving their production, even though the Serbia could boast a wide range of subsidies and loans. “This is exactly the issue these alternative types of revolving support extended by local governments and other partners are designed to address.

    SIROGOJNO In a unique environment of the old Zlatibor village, authentic objects and households are on display. In the «Staro Selo» museum visitors can witness the craftsmanship and pinnacle of the practical spirit of the local population. A visit to the Church of St. Apostoles Petar and Paul from 1764 with a renowned ikonostas that was created by Simeon Lazović, the most famous icon painter of the XVIII century. Refreshment at the Krčma Restaurant with local delicacies and good national cuisine. MONASTERY St. NIKOLJE In Ovčar Banja, Serbia’s version of Mount Atos, visitors will encounter one of the pearls of Orthodoxy, Monastery St Nikolje. Built in the XVI century. According to legend, the monastery was built by monks from Mount Atos who retreated following the siege by Catalons. Icons in the monastery were created during the XVI century. A large number of handwritten books has been saved, as well as the Gospel of Priest Vuk, handwritten and gilded. Near the Morava River, in the Monastery courtyard, the residence (konak) of Prince Miloš from the Second Serbian Uprising is preserved. MOKRA GORA-ŠARGANSKA OSMICA One of the most attractive touristic destinations in Serbia. A visit to the famous Ćira Train, steam engine and wagons and both narrow-gauge railroad tracks. Climatological monitoring showed that the summer of 2020 was warm, with above-normal temperature based on the tercile method, in the northern as well as parts of western, central, southeastern and eastern Serbia, where the outlook for a warm summer was correct.     Miraculous landscapes of the Drina-Tara region, vast spaces of intact nature and beautiful scenery of the area are the assets this territory is famous for. Still, you will not get familiar with all its beauty if you only lay back and enjoy the view from your terrace, delicious gastronomic specialties or warm smiles of your hosts. Take some of the routes or trails that will take you through the hidden places of the region’s gorgeous mountains, dense forests, steep canyons and clean rivers. What you see and experience is definitely worth a little effort. CYCLING ROUTES Zlatibor - Tara cycling route Zlatibor - Tara cycling path is 47 km long. The height difference between the highest and lowest point is 516 m. You will need a good physical condition, although there are no technically demanding sections. The surface consists almost entirely of clay and gravel roads. The route is of regional character, and besides connecting Zlatibor and Tara mountains, it has good road connections with Bosnia and Herzegovina and numerous places in Drina-Tara region, such as Mokra Gora, Kremna, Užice, Bajina Bašta, etc. Carska Tara cycling route Carska Tara (Mountain Tara is called the Empress among the mountains in Serbia) From Mitrovac - Rastište - Perucac along a 42 km long path, you will see the most beautiful and most diverse treasures of Tara mountain. Visoka Tara cycling route This route which connects Šljivovica–Tarabića brdo–Grebenski put–Beserovačke bare–Lokvica–Osluša–Sokolina–Rustine and returns to Šljivovica is 26km long. With the altitude of 380m, total ascent of 1183m and total descent of 1183m, this route will take you through the heart of the Tara mountain.
