Cuando vio en la pantalla una película corta de Chaplin en la que un “vagabundo” trataba de subir al tranvía, era arrollado por la multitud, que le obligaba a bajar del tranvía por la puerta de salida y terminaba agarrado a una longaniza colgada en una charcutería, como si fuera uno de los estribos del tranvía que no había podido tomar, la niña que era entonces mi madre se echó a llorar desconsoladamente. Sus tías solteras trataron de consolarla diciendo: -¡Pero si esta película es de risa, hace reír, no llorar! Un par de butacas más allá estaba sentado un sacerdote que se inclinó hacia las tías solteras y les dijo: -Señoritas, la niña no se equivoca tanto como creen ustedes.
