SITUATION OVERVIEW Profile of the Incident • Due to heavy rains, a landslide incident occurred at about 2:30 AM, 22 April 2011 in a small scale mining area at Panganason-B, Brgy. Kingking, Pantukan, Compostela Valley Province, resulting to the entrapment of several miners and damaging numerous houses Casualties • Dead: 3 Name Age Address Cause of Death/Remarks 1 - Jun Rex Torrejos La Filipina, Tagum City Landslide (the same person as Junjun Torrejos/John 15 yrs. old Torrejos which was previously reported in missing 2 - unidentified persons (still for verification) • Injured: 10 Name Age Address Remarks 1. Marvin Anglay Panabo Damaged Houses • Eight (8) houses were totally damaged (buried due to landslide) II. ACTION/S TAKEN: • Dir Liza Mazo and Fe Kalimpo of OCD Region 11 had conducted Damage Analysis and Needs Assessment (DANA) for Compostela Valley with the MDRRMC of Pantukan • APEX Mining Team joined the rescue operations • Injured victims were brought to Pantukan Emergency Hospital (5 persons) and Davao Medical Center, Tagum City (2 persons) for medical treatment and attention • Rescued four (4) miners; search, rescue and retrieval operations are still being conducted by 71 st Infantry Batallion, MDRRMC Pantukan and Brgy. Kingking responders, and police personnel assigned in the area • Established an Incident Command Post at the Municipal Hall of Pantukan, headed by Lt. Col. Camilo Ligayo of 71 st Infrantry Batallion, together with LGU, PNP and Philippine Army • Mobilized DRRO Troops: 1 Bulldozer c/o Russel Mining 1 Bulldozer, 1 Dumptruck and 1 backhoe from LGU 1 SAR Helicopter from 505 th SAR, PAF K9 Trackers 2 UH-1H from TOG 11, PAF, Davao • RDRRMC – 11 held a press conference at around 10:00 AM, 22 April 2011 and were participated by LCE, LGU, PPD, Provincial Representatives, AFP, PNP and other provincial representatives • DSWD XI and DOH XI provided relief goods and medical supplies, treatment and attention to the victims and their families; DSWD-Field Office (FO) XI is coordinating with their local counterparts and closely monitoring the incident • DSWD-FO XI standby funds (Php310,851.26) and stockpiled relief commodities composed of family food packs (1,951) worth Php389,444.98 and food worth Php188,169.44 ready for augmentation to the local government units 2 .
