Mr. Dmitry Potashev Summary: Bureau Veritas Certification has made the determination of the project “Evapor ation System modernization at OJSC “Ilim Group” Branch in Koryazhma”, on the basis of UNFCCC criteria for the JI, as well as criteria given to provide for consistent project operations, monitoring and reporting. UNFCCC criteria refer to Article 6 of the Kyoto Protocol, the JI guidelines and the subsequent decisions by the JI Supervisory Committee, as well as the host country criteria. The determination is carried out under Track 1 as per Glossary of JI terms, in line with paragraph 23 of the JI guidelines. The determination scope is defined as an independent and objective review of the project design document, the project’s baseline, monitoring plan and other relevant documents, and consists of the following three phases: i) desk review of the project design document and particularly the baseline and monitoring plan; ii) follow-up interviews with project stakeholders; iii) resolution of outstanding issues and the issuance of the final determination report and opinion. The overall determination, from Contract Review to Determination Report & Opinion, was conducted using Bureau Veritas Certification internal procedures. -

The development of the construction industry, conducting construction in accordance with standard projects, and transforming the construction materials industry in hard-to-reach and sparsely populated areas will make significant progress in solving the housing problem. Industrialization of housing construction is a catalyst for strong growth of the region’s economy and the quality of life of citizens. The purpose of this study is to develop a methodology for assessing the level of industrialization of the territory’s construction complex and its development potential for increasing the volume of low-rise housing stock. Research tasks: 1) assessment of the need to develop housing construction, including low-rise housing, on a particular territory; 2) development of a methodology for calculating the level of industrialization of construction in the area under consideration to determine the possibility of developing low-rise housing construction in this area in the proposed way; 3) approbation of the method using the example of rural areas of the Arkhangelsk region. It was revealed that the districts of the Arkhangelsk region have medium and low levels of industrialization. The districts that are most in need of an increase in the rate of housing construction have been identified. -

The Arkhangelsk oblast has long been one of Russia’s most important forest industrial regions. This paper analyses the changes in accessibility of forest resources and forest commodity production during the transition period in the 1990s. Special attention is given to firm restructuring, active roles of domestic capital and the different survival strategies that have been developed by in- dustries in the region. Further analysis deals with signs of economic recovery in the forest sector due to the processes of restructuring, modernisation and self-organisation. The production volume of pulp and paper industry in 2018 amounted to 11.872 million tons. Pulp exports exceeded 2.1 million tons, which is 108% of the 2017 level. In terms of value - for 1.506 billion dollars (137.2% of the level of 2017). • In 2011-2018, exports of pulp and paper products continued to increase. Russian exports as a percentage of production have remained almost unchanged since 1996, while exports account for about 80% of the production for market pulp and about 30-35% for paper and cardboard. -

Karst.), the Sibe- rian spruce (Picea obovata Ledeb.) and hybrid forms of these two species. The trails were laid in 1977–1978 accord- ing to wide-scale All-Union program of 1972 year (Prokazin 1972) in the Arkhangelsk, Vologda, Leningrad regions and the Republic of Bashkortostan. The results of the most recent inventory of provenance trials as well as analyses of preservation and growth of spruce progenies with different geographical origin are presented. One of the main factors affecting spruce progeny survival was north-south distance between seed collection lo- cality and test locality. At the time of the study (2010–2012), in the Vologda and Arkhangelsk regions, spruce progeny preservation was higher in the case of mother stands distant to the north. On the contrary, in the Leningrad region and the Republic of Bashkortostan, preservation of northern climatypes’ progenies was lower during the whole period of plantations’ growth. -

Printed in Sweden by ESSELTE AB STOCKHOLM Foreword Forest Economy in the U.S.S.R. is a special study of the forestry sector of the Soviet economy. As such it makes a further contribution to the studies undertaken in recent years to elucidate the means and ends in Soviet planning; also it attempts to assess the competitive potentialities of the U.S.S.R. in international trade. Soviet studies now command a very great interest and are being undertaken at some twenty universities and research institutes mainly in the United States, the United Kingdoin and the German Federal Republic. However, it would seem that the study of the development of the forestry sector has riot received the detailed attention given to other fields. In any case, there have not been any analytical studies published to date elucidating fully the connection between forestry and the forest industries and the integration of both in the economy as a whole. Studies of specific sections have appeared from time to time, but I have no knowledge of any previous study which gives a complete picture of the Soviet forest economy and which could faci- litate the marketing policies of the western world, being undertaken at any university or college. -

Foreword With this report on the forest sector institutions in Arkhangelsk Oblast the second study in a series of case studies that IIASA has initiated in different regions of the Russian Federation is completed. The first study was conducted in Tomsk Oblast. That study was reported in Carlsson & Olsson, eds. 1998; Carlsson & Olsson, 1998; Carlsson, Lundgren & Olsson, 1999. Studies are currently being conducted in the Karelian Re- public as well as in the regions of Moscow, Murmansk, Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, and Kha- barovsk. All these studies deal with institutional aspects of the Russian forest sector. The research has been made possible through financial support from The Swedish Council for Planning and Coordination of Research (FRN) and the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences (KVA). A large number of people have provided valuable infor- mation and given useful comments on earlier drafts of the report. -

There are the limits of warm North Atlantic waters penetration to the Arctic and a zone of interaction between Atlantic and Arctic waters. The Barents Se’s limits are the deep Norwegian Sea in the West, the Spitsbergen Island and the Franz Josef Land and the deep Nansen trough in the North, the Novaya Zemlya archipelago in the East and the North shore of Europe in the South. An analysis of Eurasian-Arctic continental margin shows correspondence between the rift systems of the shelf with those of the ocean. This relation can be observed in the central Arctic region. All the rift systems underlying the sediment basin are expressed in the sea bed relief as spacious and extensive graben valleys burnished by lobes. Two transverse trenches cross both shelf and continental slope, namely the Medvezhinsky trench between Norway and Spitsbergen in the West and the Franz Victoria trench between Spitsbergen and the Franz Josef Land in the North. -
