Advance tickets offer the best value for money – hands down. Just be aware that these tickets are only valid for travel on the train you’ve booked, and can only be transferred prior to the date and time of travel. Any difference in fare is payable too – plus a £10 administration fee per person per single fare for each change to the journey. 2 Reserving a seat. Shotgun! We’ll automatically reserve you a seat when you book an Advance ticket, and for other tickets you can request one at the time of booking. Some early morning trains are closed to reservations after 18.00 the previous day – so early booking is always recommended if you want to secure yourself a seat. 3 Buy before you board If you board our trains without a valid ticket, you’ll have to buy the full single or full return fare and won’t be able to use a Railcard (except a Disabled Persons Railcard) – so it’s always best to save yourself the hassle and money by buying before you board. 4 Book online with us No booking fees, unbeatable fares (that’s a promise), and Nectar points or Virgin Atlantic Flying Club miles available to earn on journeys with us, just a few reasons to book online with us.
