Main Celebrant: Archbishop Jose Gomez Concelebrant: Monsignor Terrance Fleming CATHEDRAL OF OUR LADY OF THE ANGELS Wednesday October 14, 2020 A very warm welcome to everyone— especially to all our young missionaries that join us today. Although, we are not able to gather physically at the Cathedral today like we do every year, we know that you are all present in spirit here with us today. We are here to celebrate YOU and your missionary efforts to help other children in other parts of the world through your participation in the Missionary Childhood Association. As one of the pontifical mission societies MCA is present in more than 150 countries all over the world. All donations given to MCA are from children to help other children. MCA fosters children’s awareness of the missionary nature of the church who are part of Catholic Schools and Religious Education by making them aware of their call to mission as members of the church. You as MISSIONARIES have given your answer of “Here I am, send me!” to God’s question of “whom shall I send?” to help those in the peripheries of society, those who are suffering and those who like you deserve to live with dignity as the children of God. Page 1 ENTRANCE HYMN— We Belong To You We belong to you, O Lord of our longing, We belong to you. In our daily living, dying and rising We belong to you. In the waters of your mercy, When the old becomes the new, Souls united in the mystery: We belong to you. -

FR. KEVIN DILLON's HOMILY DATED 26.07.2020 I Just Had an Ideas And
FR. KEVIN DILLON’S HOMILY DATED 26.07.2020 I just had an ideas and I shouldn’t announce ideas on YouTube because someone else will steal it but I thought maybe, maybe we should there’s still a lot of priests saying mass all over the world, may be should have masks in liturgical colours so I should have a green one now and a white one Christmas and Easter and a purple one for Advent and Lent and a red one for the Feast of the Martyrs and the Apostles. Now, don’t tell anyone I just had that idea but that might be a marketing opportunity for someone, so let’s see what happens with that. On another note – question for you, have a think, what is the most beautiful song ever written? Now that’s probably pretty hard because there’s lots of songs around. But if I was to make a list there’s one song that would definitely be on it and it was in my mind during the week because I received a card from a granddaughter of a lady whose funeral I conducted a couple of weeks back and when I had met with the family, they were searching around for music to put behind the photos. At that stage I think that we were still able to have 50 people at the funeral and anyhow, the song is one which I have suggested a few times for use at funerals in similar circumstances behind photos or special reflection and it is for me one of the most beautiful songs ever written. -

My Old Man David Gates and His Group Bread Recorded a Hit Song in 1974 Called
My Old Man David Gates and his group Bread recorded a hit song in 1974 called, “Just to Have You Back Again”. One of the lines, repeated several times is, “I would give everything I own….just to have you back again….just to touch you once again.” A casual listener would probably assume this is one more love song about a boy/girl relationship gone bad. In reality, Gates wrote the song about his father, who had passed away the previous year; at least so I’ve heard. I’ve identified with that song ever since learning about its origin. That’s exactly how I feel about my Dad. Funny thing, I didn’t fully appreciate my Dad when he was living. I guess like any boy /man, I always wanted his approval. But I’m sure I must have disappointed him more times than I made him proud. Dad was an officer in the Federal Prison System for 23 years. Started out at the maximum-security penitentiary in Atlanta. Then a transfer to a Federal Prison Camp in West Virginia, not far from his home which was across the state line in Virginia. I was born in the little hospital in Marlinton, the nearest town to the Camp itself, which was situated atop Kennison Mountain in the middle of the Monongahela Forest. The prison camp served as a supplier of forest products for the federal government; lumber for 1 desks, buildings, and the like. There were around 300 inmates at that minimum-security facility, and probably a staff of 35 officers and civilian clerks.
