2 Acting City Manager’s City Acting Message

A Community Message

2021 is here, and we know it could not have come soon enough for many of our residents and businesses.

And yet, as difficult as the past year has been, it also allowed us to put on full display the sense of community that makes Rialto such an extraordinary city. Our strength and perseverance. Our concern and support for one another. Our willingness and ability to adapt to a new reality. Together we’ve endured a pandemic, an economic crisis, and more – and as we look ahead to a new year, we do so with a sense of resolve and confidence that comes with being part of a city with so much going for it.

The challenges in front of us remain formidable and require our continued vigilance. Simple steps like wearing a mask, avoiding crowds and maintaining social distancing can make a huge difference in terms of getting COVID-19 behind us and returning to the normalcy we all crave.

As we do, we have much to look forward to.

Rialto remains one of the fastest-growing population and economic centers in Southern California. Our commercial and retail growth has been explosive, creating jobs, providing tax dollars to support essential city services and ensuring that Rialto remains a pre-eminent place to live, work and play.

We’re also an innovation center, and have much to share about continuing public safety improvements, the amazing technology at our wastewater facility and the reinvestment of dollars into our local infrastructure.

We’re able to do this, of course, because of you and your continued support for your community and your city. With that, we encourage you to remain engaged – to let us know what you think, to check in on City Council meetings, and to safely support our community where you can.

Things will return to normal, rest assured, and when they do, Rialto will be stronger than ever. The turn of the calendar is an important early step; farewell 2020, welcome 2021!

Thank you for making us a shining example for other communities to follow.

Sean Grayson , Acting City Manager Winter / Spring 2021
