Today I set off for an amazing day of charity work with Veteran #211 Ronnie & College Volunteer Vinny. We loaded up in the bitter cold to make sure Veteran #246 would be able to finally sleep in her new home with a bed to call her own. This move was so special since my Grandparents on both sides lived on Cruger Avenue same street she moved on. I lived here also until I was almost 3. It touched me heart, all aspects of our work make me feel blessed and so alive. The hotel furniture to me is meant to be as well. They come from an older family friend from Yorktown Frank Wortmann. Through his work with Allied Renovating Hotels; we were able to obtain gorgeous hotel donations from the Holiday Inn Express in Hauppauge, LI. (Floors of it) The furniture is all stamped "Made in the USA with either 10/00 or 11/00. Vinny passed away 10/26/2000 & his 21st Birthday would have been 11/5/2000. This is a symbolic gift and a hug from heaven. We're blessed Westy in East Northport has donated 6 months of space that allow us to continue receiving this bounty. It's huge! I feel like family there when I show up. Beautiful place and I highly recommend to all. Our Veteran wrote us a beautiful Thank you card and wanted everyone to know how truly blessed she feels. Here is her recent text. Thank you. It's all so beautiful. Thank you. Your heart is so big. One person makes a difference the vet who asked for help in the beginning and you for responding. Look at what you both have done. God really is a champion of souls because He Loves, We Love and or are the recipients of same. Hallelujah and thank you all so very much. Thank you Donors and Thank you Vinny & Ronnie for sharing today with me. T Voluntas Dei Institute O June 2015 G E “BE IT DONE UNTO ME ACCORDING TO YOUR WORD” (Luke 1: 38) T Dear Voluntas Family, H Our God is a God of surprises! Pope Francis tells us repeatedly not to be afraid of the surprises of the Holy Spirit. In fact, Pope Francis himself is a surprise of the Holy E Spirit. Fr. Parent was also a surprise for the Church and his OMI community. He was a man who was always open to newness, life, and surprises. It seems as if he was never R crippled by fear but instead was fueled by faith and trust in God. It was this sense of trust that led him to take the leap of faith in founding two secular institutes (The OMMI’s and N the Voluntas Dei Institute) when most people at the time never heard of secular institutes. God’s surprises are not in the past but continue into the present. The Affiliates in our Institute are another surprise of the Holy Spirit. Single women, married men, and E religious order priests started to come to our team meetings. They did not fit into the usual canonical categories (ordained members who wanted to transfer to Voluntas, seminarians, married couples, single men). The General Assembly of 2010 recognized God’s surprise S and created a new category that we call “Affiliates” or “Spiritually Affiliated Persons.” S I cannot help but think that Fr. Parent is rejoicing in heaven that the charism that God gave to him is not stagnant but continues to evolve in the Church.

The Campership Incentive Program (CIP) seeks to increase the number of Jewish children enjoying transformative experiences at Jewish overnight summer camp. This is done by providing financial incentives to first-time campers who are not currently participating in an immersive daily Jewish experience. The Foundation for Jewish Camp, in partnership with dozens of Jewish community federations, camps and camp movements across North America, provides incentive grants of $1,000 to first-time campers who attend a nonprofit Jewish overnight camp. Camp sessions must last 19 consecutive days. What are the eligibility requirements for applicants? Eligibility is based on several factors: where you live, past camp experience and the grade your camper will be entering in the fall of 2010. These factors are ultimately determined by your local sponsoring agency, but in general, eligibility requirements that are adhered to by the majority of partners are as follows: 1. Campers must have never previously attended a nonprofit Jewish overnight camp for 19 consecutive days or longer before applying for the grant.

Having always been fascinated by the period of Hildegard’s life where she lived as an anchoress, (essentially walled up inside a small enclosure as a literal “anchor” of prayer for that monastic community) I have thought many times about how women have been able to find creativity in spite of (or perhaps, I mused, *because of*) the most confining spaces, sometimes metaphorically, sometimes as in Hildegard’s case, physically. As a modern child of post-Vatican II nuns in sweaters and sensible shoes, but raised by a mother who was taught by nuns in classic habits, so too was the life of the cloister fascinating to me and it was while visiting the cloistered abbey of Hildegard while pregnant with my eldest that I for the first time started to really consider what that mode of life meant for her and her creative output.

piEce by piece productions p r e s e n t S MARIA IRENE FORNES “Intimate and exhilarating.” The New Yorker THE REST I MAKE UP A FILM BY MICHELLE MEMRAN USA | 2018 | 1hr19 |1.77 | Color | 5.1 SYNOPSIS Maria Irene Fornes is one of America's greatest playwrights and most influential teachers, but many know her only as the ex-lover of writer and social critic Susan Sontag. The visionary Cuban-American dramatist constructed astonishing worlds onstage, writing over 40 plays and winning nine Obie Awards. At the vanguard of the nascent Off-Off Broadway experimental theater movement in NYC, Fornes is often referred to as American theater's "Mother Avant-Garde." When she gradually stops writing due to dementia, an unexpected friendship with filmmaker Michelle Memran reignites her spontaneous creative spirit and triggers a decade-long collaboration that picks up where the pen left off. The duo travels from New York to Havana, Miami to Seattle, exploring the playwright's remembered past and their shared present. Theater luminaries such as Edward Albee, Ellen Stewart, Lanford Wilson, and others weigh in on Fornes's important contributions. What began as an accidental collaboration becomes a story of love, creativity, and connection that persists even in the face of forgetting. How It Began "Little camera," Irene said, "I tell you things I didnʼt even know I knew." In 1999, the incomparable Cuban-American dramatist Maria "call me Irene" Fornes agreed to meet a young aspiring writer (director Michelle Memran), to be interviewed for American Theatre magazine. After a six-hour lunch, most of the interview questions remained unanswered but their friendship had begun.
