Natural disasters risk is a common form of agricultural risks in china. The paper estimates the extent that the natural disaster has impacted on household vulnerability in the stricken areas. To discover the different characteristics associated with vulnerability between pre-disaster and post-disaster, we regressed vulnerability against a set of geographical and household characteristics. The paper shows that although a relatively small number of household have average revenue below the poverty line after attaining the government post-disaster subsidy, a much larger number of households have a greater probability of being poor in the future. There are some different characteristics associated with vulnerability between pre-disaster and post-disaster. This research will explore the implications for the design of effective poverty reduction policy for post-disaster reconstruction in the case of Wenchuan earthquake. © 2010 Published by Elsevier B.V. CONFORMED COPY Public Disclosure Authorized LOAN NUMBER 7616-CN Loan Agreement Public Disclosure Authorized (Wenchuan Earthquake Recovery Project) between PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA Public Disclosure Authorized and INTERNATIONAL BANK FOR RECONSTRUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT Dated March 20, 2009 Public Disclosure Authorized LOAN AGREEMENT AGREEMENT dated March 20, 2009, between PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA (“Borrower”) and INTERNATIONAL BANK FOR RECONSTRUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT (“Bank”). The Borrower and the Bank hereby agree as follows: ARTICLE I – GENERAL CONDITIONS; DEFINITIONS 1.01. The General Conditions (as defined in the Appendix to this Agreement) constitute an integral part of this Agreement. 1.02. Unless the context requires otherwise, the capitalized terms used in the Loan Agreement have the meanings ascribed to them in the General Conditions or in the Appendix to this Agreement. ARTICLE II – LOAN 2.01. The Bank agrees to lend to the Borrower, on the terms and conditions set forth or referred to in this Agreement, an amount equal to seven hundred ten million Dollars ($710,000,000), as such amount may be converted from time to time through a Currency Conversion in accordance with the provisions of Section 2.07 of this Agreement (“Loan”), to assist in financing the project described in Schedule 1 to this Agreement (“Project”). 2.02. The Borrower may withdraw the proceeds of the Loan in accordance with Section IV of Schedule 2 to this Agreement. 2.03. The Front-end Fee payable by the Borrower shall be equal to one quarter of one percent (0.25%) of the Loan amount. The Borrower shall pay the Front-end Fee not later than sixty (60) days after the Effective Date. -

Lithofacies Palaeogeography of the Late Permian Wujiaping Age in the Middle and Upper Yangtze Region, China
Journal of Palaeogeography 2014, 3(4): 384-409 DOI: 10.3724/SP.J.1261.2014.00063 Lithofacies palaeogeography and sedimentology Lithofacies palaeogeography of the Late Permian Wujiaping Age in the Middle and Upper Yangtze Region, China Jin-Xiong Luo*, You-Bin He, Rui Wang School of Geosciences, Yangtze University, Wuhan 430100, China Abstract The lithofacies palaeogeography of the Late Permian Wujiaping Age in Middle and Upper Yangtze Region was studied based on petrography and the “single factor analysis and multifactor comprehensive mapping” method. The Upper Permian Wujiaping Stage in the Middle and Upper Yangtze Region is mainly composed of carbonate rocks and clastic rocks, with lesser amounts of siliceous rocks, pyroclastic rocks, volcanic rocks and coal. The rocks can be divided into three types, including clastic rock, clastic rock-limestone and lime- stone-siliceous rock, and four fundamental ecological types and four fossil assemblages are recognized in the Wujiaping Stage. Based on a petrological and palaeoecological study, six single factors were selected, namely, thickness (m), content (%) of marine rocks, content (%) of shallow water carbonate rocks, content (%) of biograins with limemud, content (%) of thin- bedded siliceous rocks and content (%) of deep water sedimentary rocks. Six single factors maps of the Wujiaping Stage and one lithofacies palaeogeography map of the Wujiaping Age were composed. Palaeogeographic units from west to east include an eroded area, an alluvial plain, a clastic rock platform, a carbonate rock platform where biocrowds developed, a slope and a basin. In addition, a clastic rock platform exists in the southeast of the study area. Hydro- carbon source rock and reservoir conditions were preliminarily analyzed based on lithofacies palaeogeography. -

The evaluation of source rocks and the comparison of hydrocarbon sources suggest that the middle Permian hydrocarbon mainly comes from the bottom of the lower Cambrian and middle Permian, and the foreland orogeny promoted the thermal evolution of Paleozoic source rocks in northwest Sichuan to high maturity and over maturity stage. -

CB(1)112/08-09(01) Legislative Council Panel on Development Hong Kong Special Administrative Region’s Post-quake Reconstruction Support Work in Sichuan 1. In July 2008, the Legislative Council (LegCo) approved the funding of $2 billion as Hong Kong Special Administrative Region’s financial commitment to the reconstruction support work in Sichuan at the initial stage and the establishment of the Trust Fund in Support of Reconstruction in the Sichuan Earthquake Stricken Areas as a vehicle to receive the HKSAR Government’s funding and public donation. As a follow-up, the HKSAR Government signed a cooperation arrangement with the Sichuan Provincial Government on 11 October 2008 setting out the project management and funding arrangements on HKSAR’s support work in the Sichuan quake-stricken areas. A LegCo Brief (ref: CMAB081011) was issued on the same day updating Members on the latest progress. 2. As noted in the LegCo Brief, we will report to the relevant panel of the LegCo the latest progress in due course. Accordingly, we will brief the Development Panel of the LegCo on 28 October 2008.
