Media sosial dan informatif bahkan program televisi dilibatkan sebagai media untuk mengekspresikan ketidaksopanan. Ketidaksopanan yang ditunjukkan pada media- media tersebut memberikan dampak negatif melalui tindakan yang mengancam wajah yang memengaruhi pendengar. Fenomena ketidaksopanan juga terjadi pada acara pencarian bakat di televisi. Beberapa juri berkomitmen untuk menerapkan ketidaksopanan dalam mengomentari penampilan yang tidak memuaskan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui strategi dan jenis ketidaksopanan yang diterapkan oleh Simon Cowell pada Britain's Got Talent 2019. Strategi ketidaksopanan yang dikemukakan oleh Culpeper (1996) menjelaskan lima strategi dalam menunjukkan ketidaksopanan. Selain itu, tipe ketidaksopanan dikembangkan untuk mengidentifikasi tujuan mengekspresikan sesuatu secara tidak sopan. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dan menggunakan metode observasi non-partisipatif. Penelitian ini dianalisis dengan metode analisis identitas pragmatik dengan teknik menyamakan. Ditemukan bahwa Simon Cowell menerapkan semua strategi dan jenis ketidaksopanan. Strategi yang diterapkan adalah bald on record impoliteness, positive impoliteness, negative impoliteness, sarcasm atau mock politeness, dan withhold politeness. Jenis-jenis yang ditampilkan adalah affective impoliteness, coercive impoliteness, dan entertaining impoliteness. Strategi negative impoliteness adalah yang paling banyak diterapkan untuk menunjukkan serangan psikologi kepada pendengar. Tipe coercive impoliteness adalah yang paling banyak ditunjukkan untuk membuktikan kekuatan penataan yang diungkapkan oleh Simon Cowell. Kata Kunci: komentar Simon, strategi ketidaksopanan, tipe ketidaksopanan vi ABSTRACT This research was innovated based on impoliteness aspect which is often shown both written and oral in human life. Social and informative media even TV programs are involved as boards to express the impoliteness. The impoliteness shown on those media gave negative impact through the face-threatening act that influenced the hearers. Impoliteness phenomena also occurred on TV talent shows. Some judges committed to apply impoliteness while commenting the bad performance. The objectives of this research is to find out the strategies and types of impoliteness applied by Simon Cowell on Britain’s Got Talent 2019. Impoliteness strategies theorized by Culpeper (1996) explained the five strategies of showing impoliteness. Furthermore, impoliteness types were developed to identify the purpose of expressing something impolitely. This research was a descriptive qualitative research and applied observation method and non-participatory technique. It was analyzed by pragmatics identity analysis method and equalizing technique. It was found that Simon Cowell applied all the strategies and types of impoliteness. The strategies applied were bald on record impoliteness, positive impoliteness, negative impoliteness, sarcasm or mock politeness, and withhold politeness. The types shown were affective impoliteness, coercive impoliteness, and entertaining impoliteness. Negative impoliteness strategy were applied the most to show a psychology attack to the hearer. Coercive impoliteness were shown the most to prove a realignment power expressed by Simon Cowell.
