SPEAKERS: CHRISTOPHER BAUDER was born in 1973 in Stuttgart, Germany. He lives and works in Berlin. After finishing his studies in digital media at the University of the Arts Berlin, he started working primarily in the field of interactive installation art and design. His interests lay especially in the transfer of bits and bytes to real space and vice versa. Space, object, sound and interaction are key elements of his work. He founded studio WHITEvoid in 2004, which operates at the interface of art, design and technology. SAKCHIN BESSETTE // Moment Factory Co-founder & Creative Director. Sakchin’s ability to delve into various media formats led him to look at environments in holistic way. It is through light installations that he began his artistic expressions within visual environments. Special events then followed and served as an experimental canvas integrating lighting, video, sound, special effects and performance. Founding Moment Factory, he merged his practical experiences where he leads a team of 30 people. The Sakchin Bessette technological and artistic signature was lent to many emblematic multi-media projects like the Beatles Revolution Bar and the Bar at the Edge of the Earth on Celebrity Cruise ships, and international clients such as Cirque du Soleil, Nine inch Nails, MGM, Palace Resorts, and various real estate developers, among others. ODD ARNE BLINDHEIM is a board member and co-owner of Wide Media Group, a leading company in design and deployment of digital media networks, public space broadcast and event/arena media development. Odd Arne specialises in concept development and hold significant knowledge on media and technology trends and digital content. He has been working in the digital media industry for 20 years. Experience includes work with leading companies of the world. Odd Arne studied at the University of Bergen, IT and Social Economics, and Business & Administration at the Norwegian School of Management. He has worked as a teacher in digital design, digital color rendering and co-developed learning material for companies such as Philips, Xerox, Sun Microsystems and Adobe. He has also published articles on how to build virtual organisations and joint developments between companies. TIM EDLER runs realities: united together with his brother Jan Edler. Tim Edler studied computer science and architecture in Berlin. In 2000 they founded their studio „realities: united“ in Berlin. All their projects deal with issues of space, information, message and communication. Aside from their project- related work both of them have taught at/for various institutions such as the Stiftung Bauhaus Dessau, the Technische Universität Berlin or the Pasadena Art Center College in Los Angeles. From 2005 to 2008 Tim Edler held a visiting professorship at the Hochschule für Künste in Bremen. EVA EMENLAUER-BLÖMERS obtained a diploma in Sociology from Ludwig-Maximilian-University in Munich. She worked as a media Researcher for Infratest – Markt- und Meinungsforschungsinstitut and Assistant Professor for Media Research and Teaching, Free University, Berlin. In 1981, she founded Media Bookstore “Kommedia“ and “Verein für Medienarbeit e.V”, an association for media projects and research. Eva has been working as Project Manager for the Senate Department for Economics, Technology and Women`s Issues, Berlin, Department Communication, Media, Creative – since 1993. ANDREA GLEINIGER is an art and architecture historian. Since 2007, she has been a lecturer at the Department of Performing Arts and Film/ Zurich, University of the Arts where she teaches iMAS- Programme of Scenography. She studied art history, comparative literature, and archaeology in Bonn and Marburg. She obtained her doctorate in art history in 1988 with a project on guiding ideas in German large-scale post war housing development. Between1983–1993, Andrea worked as the 15 curator for Deutsches Architekturmuseum Frankfurt/Main and held guest professorships at academies in Karlsruhe, Stuttgart, and Zurich. She held the position of research assistant at the ETH Zurich/chair of CAAD from 2002-2007. Andrea is the Co-editor of the Bookseries Context Architecture. Fundamental Architectonic Concepts Between Art, Science, and Technology (Birkhäuser Publisher Basel 2008 ff). RUAIRI GLYNN splits his practice between production of public art installations and teaching. He is a Lecturer in Adaptive Architecture & Computing and Diploma Thesis tutor at the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London and a Interaction Design tutor at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, University of Arts London on the MA Textile Futures and MA Industrial Design programmes. He has lectured, run workshops and been a visiting critic to architecture and interaction design schools including the Delft faculty of Architecture (Netherlands), the Institute of Digital Art and Technology (UK), the Interactive Institute (Sweden), European Institute of Design (Brazil), the Angewandte Vienna (Austria), the Architectural Association (UK) and the University of Sydney (Australia). He is a multi-award winning artist exhibiting his work internationally, most recently this summer at the Art & Technology Biennali, Emoção Art.ficial, Sao Paulo, Brazil. ANDREW HALL is leader of Arup's global facade engineering capabilities. He has extensive experience in design, procurement, testing and construction of cladding using a wide range of systems, materials and construction types for both new build and refurbishment projects. Andrew leads a wide-ranging multidisciplinary team of structural/mechanical engineers, architects, material scientists, engineering geologists, ex-industry specialists and product designers. JURY HAHN. Jury is a designer and developer. She makes visuals and sounds with hands and computers, and is currently working on making those things interactive in the form of games. After graduating NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program in 2007, she founded MegaPhone, which is an Out-of-Home media gaming company based in New York. MegaPhone makes a real-time multi- player gaming platform where anyone can use their cell phone as a controller to interact with big screens in public spaces, using a regular phone call Commercially, MegaPhone has clients including adidas, MTV, Microsoft, Dell, Palm, and the RED campaign, and Jury was recently featured in Wired magazine as an “Alpha Geek”. M. HANK HAEUSLER is a trained electrician and studied architecture in Tokyo, Delft and Stuttgart. Haeusler has worked in architectural practices in Germany, the United States and Australia. He obtained his PhD from SIAL/RMIT University Melbourne under the supervision of Professor Mark Burry in October 2007. Hank has taught at different national and international universities like RMIT University, Melbourne and University of Applied Science in Stuttgart and is a PhD secondary supervisor at RCA Royal Collage of Arts, London / IED Industrial Engineering Design From October 2008, Haeusler is a postdoctoral fellow at University of Technology, Sydney, Australia He is currently working on two books: Media facades – History, Technology, Content (avedition, spring 2009) and Chromatophoric Architecture (Jovis, summer 2009), where his media consulting office City Lights Architecture Store/CLAStore combines his research interests with application in practice. ROGIER VAN DER HEIDE is an architectural lighting designer and Director with Arup. Rogier is the worldwide leader of Arup’s lighting design practice. Rogier has been responsible for innovative, creative and well-executed projects all over the world. Being a recipient of the prestigious IALD Radiance Award, the Lighting Designer of the Year Award, an Edison Award of Excellence, two Edison Awards of Merit, three International Illumination Design Awards, a Royal Institute of British Architecture Award (together with Zaha Hadid) as well as a British Lighting Design Award, Rogier’s work is widely 16 recognised as leading in the field of creative and independent lighting design. Many architects work together with Rogier, who has teamed with Renzo Piano, Ben van Berkel, Hani Rashid, Zaha Hadid, Michael Graves, Cesar Pelli, Rob Krier and many others. Besides his work for Arup, Rogier has delivered many lectures, presentations and seminars about design, architectural lighting and innovations. At several international conferences Rogier has talked about media and lighting design in the cityscape. STEFAN HOFMANN is Lighting Designer and Senior Project Manager at Licht Kunst Licht AG Bonn/Berlin, Germany. He has over 18 years of experience in theatre lighting, architectural lighting, and exhibition design. Stephan is an expert in unique lighting design solutions and details, architectural integration and poetic gestures of luminance for numerous project types. He has received awards for his projects on the pedestrian suspension bridge in Duisburg, Germany with an “Award of Merit” IALD 2001; the Uniqa Tower in Vienna, Austria with an “Award of Merit” IALD 2007; “Award of Excellence” IIDA 2007, and “Award of Merit” SEGD 2007 Society for Environmental Graphic Design; the Coal Washery in Essen, Germany with an “Award of Excellence” GE Edison Award. Stephan has lectured at University of Design, Karlsruhe, Germany, University of Technology, Braunschweig, Germany, University of Technology, Darmstadt, Germany, IALD, PLDA. Since 2008, he is a visiting professor for “Lighting design and scenography” at the University Kaiserslautern, Germany. ELA KAGEL is a consultant and researcher
