Citybus / NWFB Hong Kong Island Overnight Route Bus-Bus Interchange Scheme This BBI is jointly provided with New World First Bus (NWFB). Passengers of route N8 and N8X traveling between Yiu Tung Estate and Siu Sai Wan, can enjoy free interchange on the second leg of the journey by using the same Octopus card within prescribed time limit. Passengers of route N8 traveling between Heng Fa Chuen and Wan Chai / Causeway Bay, can also interchange to/from express route N8P by using the same Octopus card within prescribed time limit, fare of route N8 will be waived in the scheme. Passengers who ride on cross harbour route N121 and N122 can enjoy free interchange on the second leg when interchange with the above mentioned cross harbour routes at Cross Harbour Tunnel Toll Plaza. Details are as follows: Route B3 Route B3, which runs via Tuen Mun Pierhead, Butterfly Estate, Lung Mun Oasis, Chi Lok Fa Yuen, Tuen Mun Town Centre, Tai Hing, Siu Hong Court and Shenzhen Bay Port, will operate daily from Tuen Mun Pierhead Public Transport Interchange between 6am and 10:10pm at every 15 to 20 minutes, and from Shenzhen Bay Port between 7am and 0:20am at every 20 minutes. The full fare is HK$11. Route B3X Route B3X, which runs via Tuen Mun Town Centre (near Tuen Mun Park) and Shenzhen Bay Port, will provide express services. The Route will operate daily from Tuen Mun Town Centre between 6:20am and 10:40pm, and from Shenzhen Bay Port between 6:50am and 11:10pm, at every 20 minutes. The full fare is HK$11. Fleet Archive 2020 15 March 2020 Repaints last week included Optare Solo M890/Optare 628 (NK61 DBZ) into “Little Coasters” livery. Volvo B9TL/Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 6004 (NK11 BHE) has also lost its branding for the “Red Arrows”, having been stripped of all vinyls, ahead of the introduction of new vehicles to this service in May. There were no fleet movements last week. 8 March 2020 Repaints last week included Mercedes Citaro 0350N/Mercedes Citaro 5278 (NK07 KPN) and 5279 (NK07 KPO) into the 2019 fleet livery. Scania N94UD/East Lancs OmniDekka 6143 (YN04 GKA) is no longer a float/reserve vehicle and now forms part of the main fleet allocation at Riverside. It has replaced former East Yorkshire Volvo B7TL/Plaxton President 6935 (X508 EGK) which has suffered defects uneconomical to repair. Float Optare Solo M890/Optare 636 (NK61 FMD) is now allocated to Percy Main to provide cover for the remaining “Little Coasters” branded Optare Solo repaints. Scania L94UB/Wright Solar 5226 (NK54 NVZ) has now been withdrawn from service at Riverside and, together with 5231 (NK55 OLJ), has transferred to East Yorkshire on temporary loan. 1 March 2020 The final coach to be repainted as part of the ongoing work into the new Northern Coaching unit is Scania K340EB/Caetano Levante 7098 (JCN 822) into Voyager livery. Notable is the allocation of the registration mark JCN822: this registration mark being allocated to Leyland Tiger/Plaxton Paramount 7038 (E116 KFV) from 1990 to 1997 whilst a part of the Northern fleet in Voyager livery. NWFB and Citybus Launch App 4.2 Elevating Customer Experience with Brand New Functions （1 June 2021, Hong Kong） New World First Bus (“NWFB”) and Citybus App 4.2 is now available. The new version comes with brand new functions and landing page design, elevating customer experience. Estimated Time of Arrival (“ETA”) of All Franchised Bus Routes and 75 Green Minibus Routes in Hong Kong The new version enhances the ETA function with next three arrivals within 60 minutes of other public transports, including Kowloon Motor Bus, Long Win Bus, New Lantao Bus and 75 green minibus routes (to be further enriched as “DATA.GOV.HK” expands coverage in future). Besides, it will exclusively display the actual distance between current location of travelling NWFB/ Citybus and the selected bus stop, and pop an alert message to our users when delay is detected or the bus cannot continue its journey, so that customers are more informed of real time bus status. Offline Route Search Function Offline route search function is introduced in the App 4.2; customers are able to search basic bus route information and nearby franchised bus and green minibus routes without internet access. Enhanced ETA by Destination Function The system will suggest direct bus routes from user current location to the selected destination with an order of walking distance, as well as their ETA to the nearest bus stop. If there is no direct bus route nearby, the system will suggest an interchange combination of the routes of NWFB and Citybus utilizing the point-to-point search function automatically.

Chim Submission Date: 20th January, 2019 Utilising Smartphone Application Data Progress Report 2 Abstract Waiting for buses have become easier with bus companies introducing their own smartphone applications (apps) for passengers to check when do the buses arrive. However, apps from different companies do not read each other’s data so that passengers have to open two or more apps for checking bus arrival times. That could lead to undesired results such as missing a bus when opening another app to check arrival time. This paper describes the early research stage of a tool that integrates bus arrival time data from different bus companies. The goal of the tool is to retrieve arrival time data from different servers and show them to user in an all-in-one manner. In the current stage, it is now possible to retrieve data from Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB)’s server without using the company’s app, by directly communicating with the server using APIs. The logic of retrieving ETA from New World First Bus and Citybus is also found. Next step is to discover a working method to directly retrieve NWFB/Citybus’s bus arrival times. Franchises of Citybus Limited (Franchise for Airport and North Lantau Bus Network), Long Win Bus Company Limited and New World First Bus Services Limited PURPOSE The Government plans to engage Citybus Limited (Franchise for the Airport and North Lantau bus network) (“Citybus (Franchise 2)”), Long Win Bus Company Limited (“LW”) and New World First Bus Services Limited (“NWFB”) for discussion on the granting of new ten-year franchises upon expiry of the current ones. Members of the public are welcome to offer views on the requirements of the new franchises. BACKGROUND 2. At present, there are five franchised bus companies operating six bus franchises1 in Hong Kong. The current franchises of Citybus (Franchise 2) and LW commenced on 1 May 2013 and will expire on 1 May 2023. NWFB’s current franchise commenced on 1 July 2013 and will expire on 1 July 2023. The three franchisees have indicated interests to apply for new ten-year franchises and for them to take effect immediately upon expiry of the current ones. 3. Under section 5 of the Public Bus Services Ordinance (“the Ordinance”) (Cap. 230), the Chief Executive in Council may grant to a company a franchise conferring the right to operate a public bus service. Under section 6 of the Ordinance, a franchise may be granted for a period not exceeding ten years2. Section 12 of the Ordinance prescribes that a franchisee is required to maintain a proper and efficient public bus service to the satisfaction of the Commissioner for Transport at all times during the franchise period. 4. According to the established practice, an incumbent operator which is able to prove its ability to provide a proper and efficient service, and is willing to further invest in franchised bus operation may be considered for being granted a new franchise for a period of ten years.

Citybus Launches Route 678 (19 November 2013, Hong Kong ） Effective 25 November (Monday), Citybus and Kowloon Motor Bus will jointly introduce Route 678 to provide peak hour special service between Sheung Shui and Causeway Bay (Eastern Hospital Road). The peak hour special service Route 678 will operate on Monday to Friday (except public holidays). Departures from Sheung Shui will operate at 6:50am, 7:05am, 7:20am and 7:35am and run via Pak Wo Road, Wah Ming Estate, Dawning Views, Tate’s Cairn Tunnel, Eastern Harbour Crossing, Sai Wan Ho, Taikoo, Quarry Bay, North Point, Fortress Hill and Causeway Bay.
