The total of 171 Districts, 1,164 Sub-Districts, 7,688 Villages, 471,007 families and/or 1,568,935 people are affected by the flood. The total fatalities are 112 deaths and 2 missing. Anucha Wittayakorn-Puripunpinyoo School of Agriculture and Cooperative, Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University, Nonthaburi, Thailand E-mail: [email protected] Abstract Since 1962, when the first dairy farming in Thailand has been started, Thai dairy farmers have adopted dairy farms as their career of living. They gathered themselves as a dairy cooperative for business operation. Until now, dairy cooperatives have never known that they performed their own business with technical efficiency or not. In this paper, the researcher attempted to answer this question with the research objective to analyze the technical efficiency of dairy cooperatives in the Nakhon Ratchasima province area. This research focused on quantitative analysis. Times-series and cross-sectional data were collected from the cooperative auditing department database from 10 dairy cooperatives from 2008 to 2020. 130 observations were selected, and data analysis was applied to the panel data econometrics model to analyze the dairy cooperatives’ technical efficiency. The findings found that the overall average of 10 dairy cooperatives in the Nakhon Ratchasima province area obtained a very high performance of technical efficiency score of 0.98 whereas 2 out of 10 dairy cooperatives performed their own business with their outstanding technical efficiency score of 1.000 and 1.000, respectively. There is a tendency to increase the number of dairy farmers in Nakhon Ratchasima province, which indicates that the production of raw milk by dairy cooperatives tends to increase in response to the increased demand for milk and dairy products of domestic consumption. -

2004 Update Thailand Page - 2 Thailand HIV/AIDS estimates In 2003 and during the first quarter of 2004, UNAIDS and WHO worked closely with national governments and UNAIDS/WHO Working Group on Global research institutions to recalculate current estimates on people living with HIV/AIDS. These calculations are based on the previously published estimates for 1999 and 2001 and recent trends in HIV/AIDS surveillance in HIV/AIDS and STI Surveillance various populations. A methodology developed in collaboration with an international group of Global Surveillance of HIV/AIDS and sexually experts was used to calculate the new estimates on prevalence and incidence of HIV and AIDS deaths, as well transmitted infections (STIs) is a joint effort of as the number of children infected through mother-to-child transmission of HIV. Different approaches were WHO and UNAIDS. The UNAIDS/WHO Working Group on used to estimate HIV prevalence in countries with low-level, concentrated or generalised epidemics. The Global HIV/AIDS and STI Surveillance, initiated in November current estimates do not claim to be an exact count of infections. VIRAPONGSEa,b aMiddle Path EcoSolutions, Boulder, CO 80301, USA bThe Ronin Institute, Montclair, NJ 07043, USA Email: [email protected] SUMMARY Forest landscape restoration (FLR) considers forests as integrated social, environmental and economic landscapes, and emphasizes the produc- tion of multiple benefits from forests and participatory engagement of stakeholders in FLR planning and implementation. To help inform application of the FLR approach in upland northern Thailand, this study reviews the political and historical context of forest and land manage- ment, and the role of smallholders in forest landscape management and restoration in upland northern Thailand. Data were collected through a literature review, interviews with 26 key stakeholders, and three case studies. Overall, Thai policies on socioeconomics, forests, land use, and agriculture are designed to minimize smallholders’ impact on natural resources, although more participatory processes for land and forest management (e.g. community forests) have been gaining some traction. To enhance the potential for FLR success, collaboration processes among upland forest stakeholders (government, NGOs, industry, ethnic minority smallholders, lowland smallholders) must be advanced, such as through innovative communication strategies, integration of knowledge systems, and most importantly, by recognizing smallholders as legitimate users of upland forests. A cross sectional survey of Enterobius vermicularis was carried out in 808 children in the Bangkok metropolis and nearby provinces. This was accomplished in a mobile health clinic from Huachiew Chalermprakiet University provided for communities in the areas during April 1999 to May 2000. Children 5-10 years of age were investigated for infestation of Enterobius vermicularis. Diagnosis was done by means of the transparent tape swab technique to recover eggs in the perianal region for examination under a light microscope. The average infection rate in children was 21.91% . The highest infection rate (38.59 %) was found in Ang Thong Province, while the lowest one (11.66 %) was found in Chonburi Province. The rate of infection seemed to relate to household environmental factors. The infection rate was significantly higher (p<0.05) in agricultural areas and areas farthest from urban Bangkok. Industrial and urban areas had the lower rates of infection. There was no significant difference (p>0.05) in the incidence of infection between males and females.
