 Some construction projects have been suspended due to the pandemic and others are on different

Projects highlighted in RED have notable changes this week. Construction is tentative and subject to change at any time.

CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS ARTERIAL CHIP SEAL – ECONOMIC RECOVERY PROJECT  Crews are starting work on the arterial chip seal project. Locations include: o Freya Street between Wellesley Avenue and Upriver Drive will have single lane closures on Friday, July 16 and Monday, July 19. Flaggers will be onsite. o Freya Street between 37th Avenue and Palouse Highway will have single lane closures on Monday, July 19 and Wednesday, July 21 through Friday, July 23. Flaggers will be onsite. o Southeast Boulevard between Perry Street and 29th Avenue will have single lane closures on Friday, July 16, and Monday, July 19 through Friday, July 23. Flaggers will be onsite.

This project will apply chip seal to preserve pavement life.

This is a $500,000 project.

CENTENNIAL TRAIL – SUMMIT GAP – BOONE TO PETTET  Work on this project spans from Boone Avenue to Pettet Drive on Summit Boulevard, Mission Avenue, and West Point Road.

 Mission Avenue is closed from Cochran Street to West Point Drive for a water main installation.

This project will complete an unfinished section of the Centennial Trail in the West Central Neighborhood.

This is a $2.2 million project.

POST STREET BRIDGE REPLACEMENT  The Post Street Bridge is closed.

 The intersection of Lincoln Street and Summit Boulevard is closed and half of the adjacent parking lot.

 Post Street is closed at Spokane Falls Boulevard with local access only. Parking is limited on Post Street, and the Riverfront Park parking lot on Post just south of the bridge is closed.

 The bridge will open in 2022. See the detour routes for pedestrians and bicyclists.

This project will replace the Post Street Bridge and associated utilities.

This is an $18.5 million project.

SCHOOL SAFETY PROJECTS  Crews are working at the following locations o Wellesley Avenue at Helena Street o Perry Street between Longfellow and Empire Avenue o Pittsburg Street between Queen and Everett Avenue

This project includes and crosswalk improvements at multiple Spokane Public Schools locations.

This is a $1.2 million project funded with local funds.

SOUTH GORGE TRAIL PHASE 2  Clarke Avenue is closed from Spruce to Elm Street.

 Landscaping work is taking place in the vicinity of Sandifur Bridge parking area.

Please follow all traffic control signs and detours.

This project will construct a 10-foot wide pedestrian and bike trail, water main and pavement reconstruction of Clarke Ave, and mitigation at various locations.

This is a $4 million project funded with local and state funds.

SPRAGUE AVENUE REBUILD PHASE 2B  Sprague Avenue is closed between Grant and Division Street.

Business access is available via First Avenue and also the alley north of Sprague Avenue from Grant to Cowley Street. Arterial traffic is detoured to Second and Third Avenues.

This project will reconstruct Sprague Avenue from Division to Grant Street while enhancing pedestrian and cyclist safety and provide utility replacements/upgrades.

This is a $3.8 million project funded with local and federal funds.

STREET PRESERVATION NORTH PHASE 2  Full closures will take place the following days: o Wednesday, July 21, Nevada Street between Francis and Wellesley Avenue o Thursday, July 22, Nevada Street between Wellesley Avenue and North Foothills Drive o Saturday, July 24, Nevada Street between Francis and Wellesley Avenue o Sunday, July 25, Nevada Street between Wellesley Avenue and North Foothills o Saturday, July 31, Nevada Street between Francis and Wellesley Avenue o Sunday, August 1, Nevada Street between Wellesley Avenue and North Foothills Drive

NON-CITY OBSTRUCTIONS  Deer Heights Road will be closed north of Highway 2 for sewer manhole installation from 6/30/21 to 7/16/21.  The inside eastbound lane of Francis Avenue closed between Market and Freya Street from 7/6/21 to 7/20/21 for Lariviere work.  The eastbound curb lane of Francis Avenue between Nevada and Morton Street will be closed from 7/19/21 to 7/21/21 for Baker Construction work.  The north curb lane of Trent Avenue between Regal and Greene Street will be closed from 7/12/21 to 7/23/21 for Track Utilities work.  The southbound curb lane of Indian Trail Road between Ridgecrest Drive and Barnes Road will be shifted into the median from 6/24/21 to 7/23/21 for Quanta work.  The westbound curb lane of Francis Avenue between Assembly Street and Nine Mile Road will be closed from 6/30/21 to 7/28/21 for Quanta work.  The westbound lane of 29th Avenue between Martin Street and Southeast Boulevard will be closed from 8/2/21 to 8/5/21 for Sefnco Work.  The northbound curb lane of Ray Street will be closed between 19th and 17th Avenue from 7/7/21 to 8/6/21 for Quanta work.  The intersection of Crestline Street and 33rd Avenue is closed from 3/15/21 to 8/16/21 for the Garden District PUD project.  The westbound curb lane of Francis Avenue between Lindeke Street and Indian Trail Road will be closed from 7/26/21 to 8/24/21 for Quanta work.  The westbound and eastbound curb lanes of North Foothills Drive at intersection with Perry Street, as as the westbound curb lane of North Foothills Drive at intersection with Hogan Street from 8/20/21 to 8/27/21 for Sefnco work.  The northbound curb lane of Division Street between Spokane Falls Boulevard and North River Drive will be closed from 7/28/21 to 8/28/21 for Sefnco Communications work.  The intersection of Mission Avenue and Havana Street will be have rotating lane closures with flaggers onsite from 9/7/21 to 9/9/21 for Sefnco work.  There will be blasting near the intersection Strong Road and Indian Trail Road intersection from 5/24/21 to 11/1/21.  There will be rock blasting near the intersection of Wieber Drive and Shawnee Avenue from 5/24/21 to 11/1/21.  Shoulder work on Perry Street and North Foothills Drive for the Northeast Middle School project. Lane closures will be in place.  Austin Road from Five Mile to Strong Road is open to local traffic only. The contractor is prepping for asphalt.  Street closure on Granite Street at Upriver Drive starting 4/5/21 for the Riverview Granite Street project. This will eventually be a complete street vacation of Granite Street.

SPECIAL EVENTS  Food Truck Friday – Fridays Food Truck Friday is closing Wall Street between Main Avenue and Spokane Falls Boulevard from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

 Kendall Yards Night Market – Wednesdays The following streets will be closed from 12 – 10 p.m.: o Summit Parkway, Cedar Street to Jefferson Lane o Adams Lane north of Summit Parkway

SPOKANE PARKS AND RECREATION RIVERFRONT PARK  West Havermale: The art piece is slated for opening in the fall of 2021.  North Suspension Bridge: Reconstruction of the bridge began in mid-May, and it will remain closed until winter/spring 2022. The eastbound lane of Broadway Avenue between Lincoln and Post Street, including the south sidewalk, is closed until early January. Snxw mene? island will also be closed to accommodate construction. The north bridge will receive a new deck, floor beams, lighting, and electrical components. The detour is across the Howard Street Promenade through Riverfront Park.  More: The website for redevelopment is www.riverfrontparknow.com.

MANITO PARK  Nishinomiya-Tsutakawa Japanese Garden: The Koi Pond is undergoing a water conservation project that will improve pond quality and save 16 – 18 millions of gallons of water annually. The garden will remain closed until July 2021 to accommodate construction.

SPOKANE PUBLIC LIBRARY DOWNTOWN LIBRARY CONSTRUCTION  Lincoln Street is closed between Spokane Falls Boulevard and Main Avenue until March 2022.  The adjacent to the downtown library on Main Avenue, Monroe Street, and Spokane Falls Boulevard are closed.

SPOKANE TRANSIT AUTHORITY CITY LINE CONSTRUCTION  Cincinnati Street will be closed between Spokane Falls Boulevard and the Centennial Trail. Construction signage and detours will be in place.  Springfield Avenue will be closed between Hamilton and Cincinnati Street. Construction signage and detours will be in place.  Spokane Falls Boulevard between Pine Street/Riverpoint Boulevard and Sherman Avenue is closed until mid-July. Construction signage and detours are in place.  Wall Street between Riverside and Main Avenue will be closed starting Monday, July 19. Construction signage and detours will be in place.

STREET DEPARTMENT PROJECTS ALLEY CREW  (Monday) E 300 – 7th Ave. / 8th Ave. Alley, between Chandler and Sherman  (Tuesday) E 100 – Everett / Sanson Alley, between Mayfair and Lidgerwood  (Wed. – Thur.) E 00 – 100 – Rowan / Sanson Alleys, between Division and Lidgerwood

CRACK SEALING  Arterial Crack Sealing o Northwest Boulevard/Assembly Street, Garland to Olympic Avenue  Residential Crack Sealing o Myrtle Street/Longfellow Avenue et al.

GRIND AND OVERLAY  Work continues on Hamilton Street between Desmet and Indiana Avenue. Drivers should expect lane closures and delays.

POTHOLE CREWS  City crews continue to fill potholes. If you see a pothole, report it by calling 3-1-1. Potholes can also be reported online through your MySpokane account. Crews focus on the largest holes on the busiest streets first. Include as much information as possible on the location and size of the pothole.

STREET SWEEPING  All sweeping crews are finishing the arterials and starting residential sweeping. o Northwest: Rt. 22, Northwest Blvd. – Maxwell, T.J. Meenach – Monroe. Rt. 21, Northwest Blvd. – Courtland, Monroe – Maple. o Northeast: Rt. 29, Francis – Wellesley, Crestline – Nevada. Rt. 28, Wellesley – Magnesium Rd., Havana – Crestline o South: Rt. 40, Hartson – 29th Ave., Crestline – Ray/Thor

ADDITIONAL WORK  Bridge Crews will be working on various locations throughout the City.  Crews are working around the City on water and sewer repair cuts.  Concreate crews will be working on various utility repairs throughout the City.

WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (WSDOT) I-90 – GEIGER ROAD INTERCHANGE RECONSTRUCTION  The westbound and eastbound I-90 intersection with Grove Road has reopened to traffic. Contractor is looking at beginning the final roundabout at Geiger/Grove Road in late July to early August.

The reconfigured interchange at Geiger Boulevard will provide for more efficient vehicle movement. Improvements include interchange ramp terminal intersection roundabouts.

I-90 LIBERTY PARK INTERCHANGE TO SPRAGUE AVE - PAVING  Crews are repaving I-90 between the Liberty Park interchange and Sprague Avenue. Work will be happening overnight with crews possibly reducing I-90 down to one lane.

 Various on and off-ramp closures are possible during construction. Work hours are Sunday through Thursday, 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

 The Freya Street on-ramp is closed until September. Drivers will need to detour a few blocks east to the Custer on-ramp to access eastbound I-90.

NORTH SPOKANE CORRIDOR-US 395/NSC SPOKANE RIVER TO COLUMBIA  Euclid Avenue is reduced to one lane in each direction between Market and Freya Street.

This project will complete the Wellesley Avenue interchange, including the mainline NSC bridge over Wellesley and two ramp bridges over BNSF spur line tracks.

NORTH SPOKANE CORRIDOR-US 395/NSC BNSF 2ND RAILROAD REALIGNMENT  Wellesley Avenue is closed between Market and Freya Street.

 The following streets are permanently closed: o Bridgeport, Cleveland and Fairview Avenue between Ralph and Market Street o Grace, Marietta, and Jackson Avenue between Ralph and Greene Street

 Drivers have east/west access on Francis, Upriver, Carlisle, and Euclid Avenue.

This project will realign the BNSF railroad tracks in north Spokane for the future US 395 highway.

NORTH SPOKANE CORRIDOR-US 395/NSC SPRAGUE TO SPOKANE RIVER – PHASE 1  Work has started in the Spokane Community College parking lot at the north end near Ermina Avenue to begin excavation for bridge footings. Augusta Avenue between Ralph and Greene Street on the campus will be closed for safety concerns.

This project will construct the skyway portion of the North Spokane Corridor that traverses over Spokane Community College (Mission to Ermina Avenue).

ROSAMOND AVENUE OVERCROSSING OF I-90  The Rosamond Avenue overcrossing of I-90 is closed. A detour utilizing the Lindeke Street is in place.

LINDEKE AVENUE OVERCROSSING OF I-90  Work continues to repair the bridge deck of Lindeke Street Bridge over I-90. There is a signal to alternating traffic over the bridge until further notice.

 Repairs to the bridge will last through the end of July.

SR 290 – SPOKANE RIVER EAST TRENT BRIDGE  Crews have resumed work.

 Trent Avenue is closed between Hamilton Street and North Iron Court. Detours are in place.

This project will demolish the old Trent Avenue Bridge and construct a new bridge to take its place.
