  • Guida Ai Sentieri Del Parco Dei Castelli Romani
3D Modelling and Visualisation 1 Thomas van Reimersdahl – Peter Melms – Henner von Hesberg 3D Visualization Limitations of Historical Spaces: Requirements, Practices and Technical Visions Abstract: This paper focuses on the limitations of 3D reconstructions and their visualization with recent software applications. Taking several cultural heritage research projects as examples (the cryptoporticus, the theatre of the Villa Domitian in Castel Gandolfo and the “Musensaal” in the Faustina baths in Milet), we discuss how archaeological requirements and current technical practices affect the limitations of 3D recon- struction and visualization approaches. In response, some technical visions will be introduced to illustrate some possibilities for overcoming several of these limitations. I started my horticultural career later in life and following some volunteer work in historic gardens and completing my RHS level 2 Diploma, I was fortunate enough to secure a place on the Historic and Botanic Garden training scheme. I spent a year at Kensington Palace Gardens as part of the scheme. Following this I attended the Kew Specialist Certificate in Ornamental Horticulture which gave me the opportunity to deepen my plant knowledge and develop my interest in working in historic gardens. While on the course I was able to attend a series of lectures in garden history. My interest was drawn to the renaissance gardens of Italy, which have had a significant influence on European garden design and in particular on English Gardens. It seems significant that in order to understand many of the most important historic gardens in the UK one must understand the design principles and forms, and the classical references and structures of the Italian renaissance.

  • Chigi Palace
    - Chigi Palace - English Version Traduzione di Giovanna Gallo Ancient palace of the Sixteenth century located in the heart of Rome, it was conceived by Pietro Aldobrandini, Pope Clement VII’s brother and an important representative of the Roman aristocracy. The idea of the original plan, entrusted to the Umbrian architect Bartolini from Città di Castello, was to enlarge a pre-existent block of buildings, to incorporate some more houses and to construct a single building made of three floors with the main entrance on Via del Corso. The ownership of the palace was rather unstable because it was handed several times to other Families, such as the Detis, for almost a whole century, until 1659 when it was purchased by the Chigi family, among whose members there were also some cardinals and one Pope, Alexander VII. The Chigis were rich bankers with Sienese origins and backers of the Vatican and they changed the frame of the building, that was thus named after them. At least for two centuries the palace has been the residence of some aristocratic families and, later on, it became the seat at first of the Spanish Embassy (around the second half of the XVIIIth century ), then of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, being sold at last by the Chigis themselves to the Kingdom of Italy ( Regno d’Italia ) in 1916, when it was assigned to become the seat of the Ministero delle Colonie ( Ministry of Colonial Affairs). In 1922 Benito Mussolini, both as Italian Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, ordered to transfer there the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
