Comments by Jon Mark Meeting of Board of Trustees December 13, 2016

Dr. John Salimbene: It is with great sadness that we note the tragic death of Dr. John Salimbene. As has been publicly reported, Dr. Salimbene died in the fire that occurred in his home on Sunday, December 4, 2016. Many of his neighbors and other Scarsdale residents were his patients and he was fondly remembered by one of them as an old-fashioned town doctor. In addition, for more than half a century, Dr. Salimbene served as Tuckahoe’s village-appointed physician. Earlier this year, the Tuckahoe Police Department honored the doctor for his many years of kind and compassionate service. Here in Scarsdale, this Board and Village staff send our sincere condolences and prayers to the Salimbene family at this difficult time. We ask for a moment of silence in Dr. Salimbene’s memory.

The author of 500 technical papers and a winner of the National Medal of Science, Dr. Garwin holds 47 U.S. patents, and has advised numerous administrations. I spoke with Dr. Garwin this afternoon. He said was not able to attend this evening but would be watching on cable TV. So, Dr. Garwin we congratulate you on this high honor in recognition of your accomplishments and contributions.

In light of the lengthy agenda for this evening and the robust resident attendance here in Village Hall, I will not proceed with further comments so we can get to the business at hand.
