Okay, my first Udon artbook was the Persona 4 one and I know for a fact that they took out a lot of the original pages from the Japanese. This edition is the complete, translated version of the original. Have a hard time reading the staff's handwriting in their greeting card illustrations? Never fear, the Udon people have translated that for you as well. The pages are nice--not exactly glossy, sort of matte-glossy, exactly like the original. The cover is thicker than the original. Lots of nice stuff about Dual Destinies and an interview with the scenario and art directors of the game. I defo don't regret buying this. I've done a review for an art book before and I'm going to say what I said when I did that one; it's weird and feels wrong. An art book is not like a normal book, it's more like a reference book or book of fun facts. So with that in mind my review is wonky. My review more reflects my love of the series as a whole. The Ace Attorney series is one of my favourites and this book was a joy to read as it contains details about the game not found else where. One of the most interesting parts was the des I've done a review for an art book before and I'm going to say what I said when I did that one; it's weird and feels wrong. One of the most interesting parts was the design process of Athena Cykes as she was the new character and was designed from scratch. Also some fascinating tidbits on Apollo's design. Long story short this is a wonderful treat if you love the Ace Attorney series and particularly Dual Destinies. I would recommend borrowing the book if you can but if your a big enough fan go head and purchase a copy. So I give this book a soft 5 star rating. It's extremely exhaustive, featuring not only 2D and 3D character art, but also key art illustrations, backgrounds, evidence thumbnails, and much more. There is a short, 5-page interview with Takeshi Yamazaki scenario director and Takuro Fuse art director at the end of the book, but I would have liked more comments on the art work throughout the book. There are barely any, except for the few from Apollo Justice. Commentary from the designer Kuzuya Nuri can be found only on the few pages of splash art with the rest of the books with the characters just feature a single paragraph character description. Alas, most of the book barely has any text at all or any concept sketches. That said, devout Ace Attorney fans will love having all the art so readily at hand. I just wish it was more like that one section toward the end, an in-depth book about the process of designing the game. There were also a few major typos.
