I didn't enjoy this, didn't really have anything of substance at all. Apr 26, Nicolo rated it did not like it Shelves: summer- readingmanga. This was Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney disappointing read. It wasn't what I was expected. I got this book after hearing of high praise for the original video game. If the main character made it to the line-up for what is currently the best , the latest installment of Marvel Vs. Capcom, he must be popular and well-liked enough to merit the inclusion. I actually wanted to see a lot of courtroom action and suffice Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney say Volume 1 didn't get any. It's a collection of one-shot stories from various artists that barely have This was a disappointing read. It's a collection of one-shot stories from various artists that barely have a plot. Granted, my experience would have different had I played the game, and I would have been in on the references and other supporting character quirks that would have enhanced my enjoyment of the overall story of the game. But I didn't and thus the sad rating this Volume 1 got from me. I Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney finish in one sitting, but this one, and not because it is a double sized collection, it was a pain to read, the stories too inane even for a video game tie-in manga. Only the first two stories were tolerable, because it actually narrated Phoenix Wright's motivation as a character and the second because he got to demonstrate his talent for defending his clients by casting reasonable doubt on what could have been an open and shut case. The book went downhill from there. I would not recommend this book Volume 1 you have played the game or is just a plain manga glutton. View all 3 Volume 1. Sep 28, Diana Welsch rated it really liked it Recommends it for: nerds like me. Shelves: graphic-novels. OK, OK. I am a nerd. I am aware of this fact. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney I read this in an afternoon and really enjoyed it. It is a fan-made doujin that has been put out by Capcom, comprised of many short stories in the manga style. This means that the art style varies from story to story. Some are serious, some are funny; the characters' looks and tone may change radically from one story to the next. This does not bother me at all, Volume 1 fact, I think the book is much richer for the variety. This manga is definitely for f OK, OK. This manga is definitely for fans only. People who haven't played the games would probably not understand much of it at all. Edgeworth drives a rickshaw? Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney can pour coffee out of his mask? A dog slobbers on the judge's shiny bald head? These things are all funny if you are a nerd like me, but it would leave most people scratching their heads. The best one, in my opinion, is the one where Phoenix and Maya are trying to simulate a waterfall so Maya can channel Mia to help with a case. He dumps a bucket of water on her from a ladder er, a stepladdersprays her with a power washer, but nothing seems to work. Marvin Grossberg notices them at their futile pursuits and wants to help. His disastrous solution involves dumping thousands of gallons of water from one of those airplanes that is used to fight forest fires. Why he thought that was a good idea, I will never know, but it makes for a hilarious comic Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. Pick up this book if you are a nerd like me. Oct 10, Rishteen rated it it was ok. I thought it was just another Phoenix Wright manga spin-off or something. Apr 19, Arielle rated it really liked it. I have recently started playing Ace Attorney, and I got a bit obsessed with it. I finished the first game only a few weeks ago. So when I saw this book at my Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney used book store, I had to have it. I'll be honest, there were a few references that Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney over my head, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney this book was fun. None of it is really cannon, and all of it was silly and fun. It felt fan made, but not necessarily in a bad way. More in the "people who love this game as much as me had fun ideas and turned them into Volume 1 ma I have recently started playing Ace Attorney, and I got a bit obsessed with it. Worth reading, and very few spoilers, though I found that having knowledge of both the first and part of the second game helped. It would probably help more to have finished all three games. But no matter what, it was a fun experience. Oct 05, Francine rated it liked it Shelves: books-i-own My favourite story by far was "Turnabout Illusions". A lot of the other stories were pretty forgettable, though it was fun to see all the characters in different art styles. Oh well. Aug 09, John Michael rated it it was ok. For every one good story I read in this collection, there were three complete Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney stories. The goods ones are worth reading but they just don't make up for the bad ones enough. Mar 22, Mike rated it liked it Shelves: manga. A few stories set in the Ace Attorney universe. Nothing to stand out, but a good read if you're a fan of the games. Sep 30, Klemen rated it did not like it. I bought this as a collector's piece, so my expectations were tame, but this blew em all away. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Volume 1 by Kenji Kuroda, Kazuo Maekawa, Paperback | Barnes & Noble®

These stories come across as a collection of doujinshi submissions, with all the writing and drawing quality which that implies. A lot of the subject matter is of a very generic nature, the authors seem to have all attended the same workshop on how to create a quirky story out of any cast or setting an author might be commissioned to work with. There are at least two whole stories where a female coworker picks up a cat off the street and begs Wright to let her keep it! In the rare event Volume 1 a trial does take place Volume 1 the story, it is glossed over Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney a few panels and the outcome is revealed in the final text blurb of the chapter. However, the rest run the gamut of typical amateur styles and clumsy aesthetics. If you absolutely love the game, then you will probably get a kick out of seeing the cast involved in a slew of silly outside situations. When the stories are as generic and bland as they are here, the multiple-short story format only serves to ensure that the narrative never goes anywhere. Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney, Vol Volume 1. Unlike the Del Ray mangathe Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Comics manga is written and illustrated by one team and told more in the style of the games; an investigation of a crime followed by a trial. Unlike the games, however, there is only one investigation and one trial for each case. Phoenix Wright has to once again defend his friend Larry Butz in a murder trial. Wright is invited to the home of a rich computer company president and asked to defend the man in court as he has been accused of killing an employee. After an unexpected murder, Wright soon finds himself defending a new client for an unexpected murder, while a familiar face stands at the prosecutor's bench before him. Franziska von Karmawho as "Madame Lovetap" was substituting for a fortune teller at Fortune Circle, acts as the prosecutor for the case. Pearl Fey finds a stray cat and brings it to Wright and Maya. In an attempt to return the cat to its owner, Wright and friends soon become involved in another murder. When Milo "Fairplay" KentVolume 1 well-respected competitor a television eating competition, is poisoned by a bowl of noodles during said competition, Wright and Maya soon find themselves defending the show's announcer for the crime. Their subsequent investigation reveals the cast and crew to be desperately trying to cover something Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Russi Clover once again gets herself in trouble after converting to the " Great Tengu Society ", a cult that claims to give its followers supernatural powers. When an enemy of the cult is found dead, Wright must once again defend her in court against Franziska von Karma. But was the victim's death the divine retribution of the Great Lord Tengu? Or was it simply murder? The cases in the manga take place during consecutive months, strongly suggesting that they are chronologically ordered and take place all within a single year. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Pearl Fey appears in the first chapters, and both Miles Edgeworth and Franziska von Karma make appearances as rival prosecutors to Phoenix Wright throughout Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney manga. During Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulationsvon Karma does not encounter Wright until Bridge to the Turnaboutin which she greets him by saying they have not met in about a year. The aforementioned final episodes of the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney two games are precisely the only times all four characters are Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney the same general location, aware of each other's presence. The manga could fit into the timeline of the trilogy by ignoring one of these facts, with the one in Trials and Tribulations being the least consequential. This wiki. This wiki All wikis.
