Loretto’s Veterans Day project

In honor of Veteran’s Day, Loretto Elementary School’s Student Council, along with other Extended Day students, honored our veterans in a special way. As a class, students chose a veteran to spotlight—any person who has ever served or sacrifi ced their life in any branch of the United States’ Armed Forces at any time in United States history. They then deco- rated posters with the featured veteran. The posters were attached to stakes and displayed in front of the school during the observed holiday period to show our veterans how much they are appreciated. The Extended Day students put the fi n- ishing touches on the “Thank a Veteran” project by creating red, white and blue windsocks and hanging them from the trees. Many who passed by the display said that they were moved to tears; some even wrote to Principal Chris Begley to express their appreciation of how Loretto chose to say “Thank You” to all veterans.
