Davide Mancini Zanchi Ping – Pong … Pung opening saturday may 26 2012, 7pm 26 may – 7 june | fri – sat 2/7pm Wipe bathroom ikea, Acrylic on Canvas, 30x40cm, 2012 Davide Mancini Zanchi first solo exhibition is at AplusB in Brescia, Italy. The artist (Urbino, 1986) needs to redeem from dependence on the objects, or rather from everything that is real, palpable and perceived by senses, from what is other than oneself. Paintings, sculptures and videos are conceived to abstract daily life in an own, personal formal synthesis. The artist’s strategy consists in simplifying constituent elements so to find a way out from the more and more advanced dematerialization that characterizes today’s world, and to find what is necessary to the artist to belong to the time and space in which he is physically located. Davide Mancini Zanchi paintings appear as a standardized series, in sizes and finishes, and belong to still-life paintings genre. Everyday objects are read one by one and turned into primary forms that, at first sight, appear as color and signs with no purpose, and, in the end, they are put back in memory recognizing the use they were born for. In sculptures, instead, objects become part of self-portraits, which are also standardized in form, but transformed by the relationship between objects and representation in which dominates the highly developed sense of irony. Ping - Pong ... Pung is completed by some video works; thanks to this medium David Mancini Zanchi was awarded with the Peschiera Prize 2011 and selected in various other exhibitions. In videos, always concise and related to performing situations, the body is the expedient that is transformed or altered. Metamorphosis are concrete and necessary to gain favor and, at the same time, find a way out to new opportunities for the artist as sensitive living being.
