The meeting was opened by the Regional Focal Point (RFP), Mr. Ali Hussein, by welcoming the participants and appreciating them for their timely arrival. Then Introduction/ verses of Quran was read by Mohamed Abdullahi, followed by round table welcoming introduction among the participants. The Chair then went through the meeting agendas and progressed to open the agenda discussion.

This agenda mainly focused on listening updates from the WASH partners. The following partners shared their activities:

 GSA Partners’ update Completed activities  Construction of 30 latrines in Qaydaro, Afgaduudle and Taroge villages with 10 latrines each.  Full Rehabilitation of Qeydaro Borehole.  Pipeline rehabilitation for Qeydaro Borehole

Planned WASH activities  Drilling of Borehole at Lasacadale Village along with construction of water kiosk and animal trough  Drilling of new Borehole at zone with Construction of water kiosk and animal trough- The site will be identified soon.

 IRC On-going activities:  Upgrading with solar power installation, fencing and rehabilitation of Bitale Borehole under BRICIS project.  Upgrading with solar power installation, fencing and rehabilitation of Cel- dibir Borehole under DEVCO2 project.  Emergency water trucking through water vouchers for Docolle Farale, Carfuda nad Rasan VIlllages under  Distribution of WASH NFIs to BRICIS project target locations; Bitale,

Bandarqali, Docole Farale, Carfuda, Rasan and Dawaf Villages.

 IMC On-going activities: Routine hygiene promotion awareness by 15 Community hygiene promoters in Galkayo IDPs and Dhuure Village.

Planned activities:  Continuous monitoring of rehabilitated/constructed water points  Carry out WASH needs assessment.

 CESVI

Completed activities  Training of water management committee (WMC-36 members) at Xarxaar IDP, Sedex-higlo Village, Galbarwaqo Village and Horumar IDP in Galkayo and Hobyo districts.

On-going activities:

 Rehabilitation of water point at Afgaduudle, El-akhwan, Dagari, Xaaro, Xero-dhagaxley, Bandar-seed, Jilable and Qarsoonni.  Water trucking at voucher in Afgaduudle, El-akhwan, Dagari, Xaaro, Xero- dhagaxley, Bandar-sed, Jilable and Qarsoonni  Distribution of NFIs at Afgaduudle, El-akhwan, Dagari, Xaaro, Xero- dhagaxley, Bandar-sed, Jilable and Qarsoonni

Planned activities  Full rehabilitation of water points at Xarxaar, Sedex-higlo, Galbarwaqo and Horumar Village in Galkayo and Hobyo districts.

 WISE

 Conducted hygiene promotion awareness at 12 IDPs under Galkayo district along with distribution of sanitation tools  Distribution of NFIs at Bulo-Noto, GAS, Gurmad and Hiran one targeting 870 households.

 Establishment of water catchment at Galkayo  Construction of Barkets at Galbarwaaqo Village

Humanitarian situation update (AWD, Impact of  Overall humanitarian situation of South-Mudug is worsening month after worsening dry season, month due to dry up of water reservoirs, defects of strategic Boreholes, salty taste of some of the recent drilled Boreholes, decreasing humanitarian funds, Rains, WASH Gaps, recurrent inflation, deficit of rains and weak capacity of the administration displacement and etc.) and arising conflicts during the transition period of unstable politics and upcoming election for Galmdudug state president. Already severe dry condition around Mudug region is reported, the priority areas that complained were said to be Taroge and Hobyo zones. Around 9,000 individuals were estimated to be in need for water trucking.  Need for water filtration machine for Afgaduudle Borehole was emphasized. GSA drilled Borehole in that village, however, there was an issue of water taste.  The reported defects of 3 Boreholes located at Sarjimaale, Jilable-heyr and Awrlaa Villages remain unsolved. The needed spare parts were Cables, pipes and Submersible pump. Action points  Partners to jointly fill the template for prepositioning of Borehole O & M kits.  The agenda of harmonization of hygiene promotion awareness to be discussed in the coming cluster.  Galkayo Municipal to provide feedback on their promise of providing land for the disposal dislodged latrine waste at Galkayo town. AOB The cluster focal point briefly updated the partners about the preposition of Borehole Operation and Maintenance kits at the regional supply hub which will be used during the emergency issues. The partners decided to jointly fill the form for organizing the possible needs.

The regional Focal point also shared his final message with the meeting participants as he will exit from IMC soon, however, told that the lead agency (IMC) will update the partners on the way forward on who will take the lead from there. He appreciated the partners for their collaboration and support. He also highlighted importance of coordinating with cluster focal point and serving the community.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:00 noon. Proposed date for the next 30 September 2019
