Fida Afiouni is an Associate Professor of Human Resource Management at the Olayan School of Business, American University of Beirut, Lebanon. Her research and teaching focus on the interplay of HRM, careers, and gender in the Arab Middle East. She has presented her work in leading academic and professional conferences such as the Academy of Management in North America, the International Human Resource Management conference in Europe, the HR summit and Expo in Dubai, the HR Summit in Beirut and her publications have appeared in several academic and professional outlets, the most recent being in Career Development International, the International Journal of Human Resource Management and Women Studies International Forum. She is currently an Associate editor in Business Ethics: A European Review, a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Human Resource Management, an advisory board member of the KIP Project, and ad hoc consultant with the International Labor Organization. Anies Al-Hroub is the Chairperson of the Department of Education at the American University of Beirut. He is an Associate Professor of Education Psychology and Special Education and the coordinator of the special education diploma programme and School Guidance and Counselling MA programme. Al-Hroub completed his PhD and MPhil in Special Education at the University of Cambridge and his MA (Special Education) and BA (Psychology) from the . He has published in leading international gifted and special education journals, and is the author of Theories and Programs of Education for the Gifted and Talented, and ADHD in Lebanese schools: Diagnosis, Assessment and Treatment. His book Gifted Education in Lebanese Schools is in press. Al-Hroub’s research interests focus on gifted and talented education, guidance and counselling, dyslexia, twice-exceptionality, and educational assessment. He led a number of educational projects sponsored by UNICEF, UNRWA, the British Academy, USAID, the Welfare Association, and UNESCO. Antonis G. Antoniou studied in the USA and acquiring a Bachelor in Business Administration and Master degrees, in Educational Policy and Leadership and in Counselling Psychology. He is also a certified Psychotherapist of the Rational Institute of New York. Since 1996 he has worked as a School Counsellor for the Ministry of Education. He has been offering a graduate course on Guidance Counselling at the University of Cyprus for the last two years. Currently, he is

Aboubakr A. Badawi worked as a senior specialist on employability at the ILO between 1991–2004 and is now a freelance consultant based in Cairo. His main research interests include career guidance, TVET, and entrepreneurship education policies and systems, and he has promoted the integration of career guidance and counseling in education and training in Egypt and elsewhere. Between 2006–2010 he contributed to the European Technical assistance programme to the MEDA region, with his main input being in the area of Career Guidance. In the context of that programme he was a resource person in capacity building initiatives, as well as in peer learning, review and study visits to several countries including Germany, Italy, Jordan, Netherland, Scotland, Syria and Turkey. Neruda Barakat is Director of the Skills and Career Centre which was established at , Syria, in 2011. He has two professional interests linked, first, to his role as assistant professor of materials science and engineering – where his research focuses on corrosion of metal alloys and hydrogen damage to metals – and second, to his role of Director – where his work concerns career guidance services in war-torn countries and the integration of generic skills in university curricula. The latter involves catering for the career development needs of more than 10,000 students, especially by providing workshops on CV writing, and interview, communication, teamwork, negotiation, and time management skills. Lynne Bezanson is Executive Director Emeritus of the Canadian Career Development Foundation. She organised the first two International Symposia on Career Development and Public Policy that were held in Canada, and she has collaborated on the organisation and implementation of all subsequent Symposia. In 2003, she organised the inaugural pan-Canadian Symposium on Career Development, Lifelong Learning and Workforce Development. She was a member of the National Steering Committee for the Canadian Standards and Guidelines for Career Development Practitioners and is a founding member and current Chair of the International
