The children of Magor V.A Primary School would like a Head- teacher who is:-

 Caring, thoughtful, kind, a good listener, not shouty.  Knowledgeable and responsible.  Prepared to spend time on the yard with us at playtime, get to know our names and to muck in and have fun.  Gentle, calm, a good problem solver, firm but fair.  Polite, not mean but has fair rules and is honest.  Cares about our safety  Able to manage a budget and who has fresh ideas in how to make our school an even better place to learn.  Confident enough to speak to the whole school – over 350 of us!  A good team leader who will also look after our teachers.

The Governing body are looking for a Head-teacher who:-

 Is a forward thinking and innovative leader to lead this popular school, situated in Magor in (current number of children on the school roll – 368).  Is a practicing and committed Christian, who is willing to uphold the Anglican (Church in Wales) ethos of our school, who will continue to develop our links with the Rectorial Benefice of Magor and the wider Diocese of and the Church in Wales.

 Will work in partnership with the whole school and help us build on our achievements and be committed to providing a rich and creative curriculum that meets the learning needs of our children and enables all to reach their full potential.  Is proven to be committed to inspirational teaching and learning;  Has excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills;  Has a passion to ensure that every child succeeds;  Has effective budget control;  Has an ability to work effectively in partnership with the wider school Community;

Magor Church in Wales Voluntary Aided Primary School

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To lead and manage a happy and effective primary school in accordance with, and subject to, the Trust Deed and the mission and ethos statements of the school.

THE POST-HOLDER

 is responsible to the School’s Governing Body and, through the Chief Officer for Children and Young People, to Monmouthshire County Council for the internal organisation, management and control of the school;

 is employed by the Governing Body;

 should carry out professional duties in accordance with, and subject to, the Trust Deed and the mission and ethos statements of Magor Church in Wales V.A. Primary School, Monmouth.

 must have a firm commitment to high quality educational provision and seek to maximise the achievement of every pupil;

 should interact on a professional level with colleagues, including Head- teacher colleagues, Officers of Monmouthshire County Council (LA) and , Officers of the Education Achievement Service for South East Wales (EAS) and seek to establish and maintain productive relationships with them;

 will be required to supervise all employees of Magor Church in Wales V.A. Primary School

 be willing to teach and/or support in the classroom should the requirement arise.

EXPECTATIONS The Head-teacher is expected to comply with the latest, prevailing School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document, which gives details of the roles and responsibilities of the Head-teacher. The Head-teacher is expected to strive to meet the National Standards of Headship that have helped to inform the professional duties.
